Border liaison officers (BLOs) from Burma and India met for the first time on Tuesday at Jairampur in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, according to the Indian news agency ANI. The two sides discussed local security, crime and other border issues during their inaugural meeting, and agreed to continue holding such talks in the future. The creation of the BLOs was decided on May 17 during a high-level meeting of officials from both countries in Naypyidaw. Burma and India share a 1,643-km-long border, and aim to double their bilateral trade to US $3 billion by 2015.
