Infrastructure Distribution In Thailand Starting With Patong

There are large variations in the quality of infrastructure throughout the south east Asian region. The point being, significant analysis needs to be done in order to keep infrastructure in step with tourism and population growth. I know as I’m an infrastructure analyst. My name is Matt.

Okay Matt, are you saying Thailand’s infrastructure is below world standard?

Well it would be if improved out of sight.

I see, is it really that bad?

Well Jeff let’s put it this way, if the infrastructure in a tourist place like say Patong was a company, it would burn down at 4 o’clock on a Saturday morning.

Mmm, that bad. So why doesn’t Thailand follow the example of Singapore?

[mattjenson]

: I think the fact that Singapore is not inhabited by Thais may cause Thais to see Singapore’s example to be of limited value.

I see. How much of the problem is due to lack of funding?

[mattjenson]

None whatsoever Jeff, the funds are there; it’s simply a matter of distribution.

So it’s simply a matter of implementing the existing infrastructure plan?

[mattjenson]

Well let’s imagine an infrastructure plan exists.

Right, so the government just needs to develop an infrastructure plan?

[mattjenson]

Correct, there will be a meeting about that.

That is good news, when will the meeting be?

[mattjenson]

That will be decided after the meeting location is decided. There’ll be a meeting about that too.

So when will that meeting be?

[mattjenson]

That’s yet to be decided.

Okay, so when everything has been decided we can expect to see major improvements in the infrastructure of places like Patong?

[mattjenson]

Theoretically that’s correct Jeff but then there still remains the question of financing it.

[manly100]

But Matt didn’t you say the funding for infrastructure is in place?

[mattjenson]

That’s correct Jeff but the funds have been temporally deposited with other entities.

[manly100]

So it’s just a matter of withdrawing the funds on deposit?

[mattjenson]

Well it would be Jeff but the other entities have distributed the funds on deposits indefinitely.
