[Myanmar] Switzerland Opens New Embassy In Burma

Switzerland’s foreign minister Didier Burkhalter was in Rangoon on Saturday for the opening of a new embassy in the former Burmese capital, according to swissinfo.ch. On Friday, he announced plans to invite 15 Burmese experts to receive further education on democracy, federalism and international human rights, and pledged to contribute US $100,000 to assist Pagan in its efforts to be listed as a Unesco World Heritage site. At the embassy opening, he also signaled that Switzerland would increase its development aid from $11 million in 2012 to $20 million in 2013 and $35 million per year by 2016.
