Thai soldiers seized rifles, machine guns and many other heavy firearms, as well as more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition, in the Thai province of Tak on Sunday, according to a report by The Bangkok Post. Army sources said the weapons were found inside a pickup truck without a license plate and that the driver was a Karen man. The sources said the confiscated weapons were likely to be transported to Border Guard Force (BGF) units in Burma’s Karen State. The BGF consists of former ceasefire groups who agreed to accept Burmese military command ahead of elections in November 2010.
