[Myanmar] Burma, Thailand To Set Up Committees On Dawei

Burma and Thailand have agreed to establish joint committees overseeing infrastructure related to the Dawei deep-sea port project in southern Burma, according to a report by Reuters. Ministers from the two countries met in Bangkok on Wednesday to show their support for planned multibillion-dollar project, which has struggled to raise the $8.5 billion needed to finance the first phase. “Collaboration on Dawei is of the utmost importance to both our countries. The next step is to invite investment from the state and private sectors,†said Thai Finance Minister Kittirat Na Ranong during the talks.
