[Myanmar] Rohingyas Arrested In Dawei Sent Back To Arakan

Featured Replies

The Burmese authorities are s ending 78 Rohingyas who were arrested earlier this year in Myate Township, Tenasserim Division, back to Arakan State, according to sources. The 78 people were apprehended in April while trying to make their way to Malaysia and were later imprisoned for violating Burma’s Immigration Act, which does not recognize the Rohingya as Burmese citizens and restricts their movements in the country. They reportedly arrived in Thaketa, Rangoon Division, today en route to Arakan State, where they lived before leaving for Malaysia.
