Norway has said it will give US $850,000 to help Burma to bring its 1984 Electricity Law up to current international standards, according to a report by The Bangkok Post that cites the Asian Development (ADB). “Having an updated Electricity Law, putting the proposed law into use, and conducting initial capacity building on principles of electricity regulation are essential for the development of Myanmar’s power sector,†said Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide during a visit to Burma last week.  The grant will support a review of current energy laws and the drafting of new energy legislation.
