Antibiotics And Breast Feeding

Featured Replies

One of my staff has a nasty infected wound on her foot and the doctor prescribed antibiotics and I have advised her that to double check as she has a 4 month old baby that she is beast feeding .

I s there any other medication that she could take that is safe ,I am treating and dressing her wound but feel she needs meds as well.

How about a topical antibiotic -- a cream or ointment applied directly to the wound?

It is easy to check if the antibiotic she has is safe to use during breastfeeding. Either google it or search MIMS as in the pinned topics above.

Always a better option to try and steer clear of oral antibiotics during this time or pregnancy if at all possible..
