No difference to the western world. Without kids not easy to get vasectomy done. The visit of a psychologist for family planning is mandatory and if you are married your wife have to sign agreement as well. Try it again and be prepared to lay open your reasons.

You are joking (about the psychologist) I hope? If not it has changed a lot in the 8 years or so since I had mine. I had no kids and no problem getting it done.

Not joking, I went through it all, 13 years ago. Maybe its more liberal nowadays but I doubt it.

Coincidentally I have an English speaking Thai friend that called me from Bangkok yesterday complaining that, even with his wife alongside, the doctor in a private hospital would not perform a vasectomy. Nothing to do with the law, but the doctor admitted that it was his policy and he felt that the wife could / should be responsible for birth control. Typical male arrogance, make the woman ingest hormones on a daily basis

Sheryl in the US it is based upon state law. In Virginia I had to wait 30 days as a cooling off period. When I complained to the doctor that at the age of 55 I sure didn't need a cooling off period, he commiserated with me but still scheduled the procedure exactly 30 days from when I saw him

The point is although it is practically a small operation , the procedure is almost irreversable.

Once done , you become like a Java orange ( seedless ) so a lot of doctors will make sure you Really want and need it as quite a lot of men change their minds ( in vain ) due to a change of circumstances.
