What's The Event On Kata Beach?

Featured Replies

There seems to be a lot of preperation for some kind of event on Kata beach. The whole of the beach road has been closed and marquees being set up. Have they given any thought to where people can park? (yeah ,I know that's a silly question)

Did you notice the large number of boats moored off Kata beach?

They are all here for the anual Kings Cup Regatta which will start tomorrow or after tomorrow and will last for the entire week.

This morning they were erecting 210 tents for vendors. Unbelievable ... last year they could not attract enough vendors for only 30 tents. And where are these 210 vendors supposed to unload their pick ups. answer - all parked up on the walking path. I rest my case.

Where will all the vendors go pee pee and poot poot?

In the bushes along the front. Can't see many being there in this type of weather.

Yes, that was quite a spectacle. Think it was the year before. Made for quite an interesting walk in the mornings watching some owners trying to refloat at each high tide, and the rest being craned out.

I think you're correct about the mass beaching, it was two years ago. Another beached itself last year as well, if I remember correctly, it had washed up the year before as well...

We counted 270 stalls this morning, looks like over 200 stall holders, so a good turnout. Not so good, all the trash, all the stall holders blocking the side walk with chairs, beds, make shift kitchens. I guess we will walk somewhere else for the next few days.
