Firefox Favorites Folder

Featured Replies

I am changing from my old faithful PC to a Mac Book Pro. Does anyone know where the details of favorites is stored in FireFox, and can I then import these to Safari on my Mac,

thanks

Why not just download FFox for mac? I use chrom(ium) across windows and linux, it synchronises favs/bookmarks and even add-ons (adblock etc).

If FFox can't do that, strongly suggest you change to chrome and import favs from other browsers.

Cheers, AA

the favorites (called bookmarks in FF)

the easy way is:

go to Bookmark -> import and export -> export as a html file

If you use Firefox for Mac only do the same go to Bookmark -> import and export -> IMPORT as a html file

the html file it's very good too, all your bookmarks in only one page with title and description

You can try using FEBE(Firefox Enviornment Backup Extension) and backup everything on your PC after adding the extension. Then copy the backup to a flash drive and install FEBE on the Mac and import it. That keeps all your settings. It has a scheduler in it also to automatically backup all FF settings when you want.

FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers (it can even backup/restore your entire profile). You can selectively restore only the items you need. For instance, you may just want your bookmarks restored and leave everything else as it was.

//edit - just saw you meant to import to Safari. Using FEBE does save the bookmarks as an HTML file along with your extensions and settings in case you may decide later to use FF again.

Thanks for all the helpful advice guys, will try out this week end

thanks again

use "Xmarks.com " once you log on all you bookmarks, are stored on xmarks.

that way you never loose you bookmarks

its a free program, easy to move from one computer to another

btw, congrats on your migration to Mac. I did this years ago after endless frustration in the World of Windows. I have never regretted it! If you're not familiar with Mac, you'll have growing pains of a few weeks and once you get used to it, everything will feel natural. Make sure to visit Touchpad settings and turn on all the clicks & gestures.
