Hello.

I have a non immigrant multiple entries O visa.

It will expire at 23 december.

As I understood I should get a new one in a Thai embassy in any othe country.

Since I live in Buriram, Phnom penn/Cambodia is the most ovious choice for me.

I would like to go today or tomorrow (all of a sudden a Cambodian friend of my has time to go there with me so there was no time to prpare well).

But Can I get a new visa while the one I have now is not expired yet?

I tried this allready 6 months ago when I was in The Netherlands (my original country) and there at the Thai embassy they told me they can not give it to me because I still have a valid one and I can not have two visas at the same time.

So according to that I assume that I can not get it in Cambodia either untill the one I have now is expired at 23 december.

Maybe it is different because my visa at this moment is in it's finall stage (last 3 months) .

or maybe there is even an easier way to get a new one?

I would like to add a question to my topic.

Since my visa will expire at 23 december 2012, can i still go today or tomorrow (or any day before 23 december) crossing the Cambodian border, like i do every 3 months, and come back the same day.

Will I get a new entry for 90 days?

In that case I might better do that and go to phnom penn 90 days later.

Am I right?

If I go for a new O visa to phnom penn now, it is like i throw away 90 days that i could still get based on the visa I have now.

Right?

If you did go to PP Cambodia I am not sure you would even get another multiple entry visa because there have been no recent reports of anybody getting one there.

The nearest location that has been issuing multiple entry visas based upon marriage to a Thai is Savannakhet Laos if that is the basis for current multiple entry.

Best thing to do is make that last border run for the additional 90 day entry.

Ok, I will sure do that, go for the final 90 days.

I would be stupid if I would not do that. I just didn't think about that possibility.

But...

What is the reason I can most likely not get a multiple entry in Phnom penn?

An embassy is an embassy right?

Last time I did my border hopping the Thai officer told me also that my visa was going to end in 3 months.

I asked him if I can get a new one in Phnom penn and he said I could.

I could go there myself or even pay someone to go there for me.

but that is what he said.....

And what they say and what they do is not allways on 1 line.

If I go there anyway and I will get my Multiple anyway, I will let you know.

You will not get a multi entry and any visa from that Consulate will normally take a 4 day wait. You have still not said on what basis you have a multi entry non immigrant O visa but if for marriage the only Consulate in the area that will normally freely issue a multi entry with just marriage and spouse ID card/home register proof is Savannakhet. Other will usually require some proof of financials if a male of 100k in account for KL to 400k at some others. An Embassy, is an Embassy, is not true.

There are only 2 nearby locations that do multiple entry non-o visas. Those are the embassy in KL Malaysia and the consulate in Savannakhet Laos. You can check the latest reports of getting a visa in area listed under the pinned topic on the first page of this forum to verify.

Not all embassies and consulates operate under the same rules.

I cheked the map for Savannakhet and I see now that this is only 300km away and right at the border.

I would be stupid to travel 900km to Pnohmpenn......

I didn't know this.

Thank you very much for the information.

I would say that it is a lot closer since it is just across the river from Mukdahan. There are several topics on getting visas there. Have a good trip.

Hope someone is still following this post.....

So I crossed the border in Cambodia to get my 90 days.

But, how stupid I was...

Thinking that my latest entry stamp of 90 days showed my when my visa would expire.

Of course not! now I know....

My visa was allready expired at 4 october. so it said on the visa.

I thought it would expire at 23 dec. but that was just the end of my 90 days.

We all learn.....

so I got 14 days instead.

That means I should apply for a new O visa within 14 days at the consulate in Savannakhet.

But what if I will not get my new visa there? you can never be sure , seeing is believing and I like to be prepared ofcourse.

Will I still get an other 14 days? or is there a limit to getting 14 days entrees...

If I don't get my O visa but I get another 14 days it gives me time to fly back to my home country (Netherlands) to apply for a visa there. not handy but possible.

But if there is a limit to getting a 14 days entree stamp and I don't get that either it means I'm stuck in Laos.

I've only had one time a14 days entree stamp, yesterday in Cambodia.

Please advice me....

There is no reason to use a visa service if you would prefer to do yourself - it should be easy enough and the same paperwork is involved. As said with proof of marriage and spouse ID card/home register copies a multi entry should be issued - it that failed you would still have single entry or tourist visa or another 15 day visa exempt; any of which you can extend 60 days at an immigration office.

OK, Thank you very much.

so I will for sure go there together with my wife and all documents.

As you say I should gt my O visa.

Imagine I don't get it, I will for sure get a 15 day entree which I can extend with 60 days.

I didn't know I could get a 60 day extension..... on what is that based?

Is the visa run to get a 15 day entree limited to a certain amount of runs?

or can you just continiue to do so and get it every time you do a visa run even if you do that 20 times or so?

not that would like to do that ofcourse, but just curious.

There is no set limitation on 15 day visa exempt entry but it might be questioned after a few thinking you might be working illegally. The 60 day extension would be to visit Thai spouse and require marriage and spouse to be with you at immigration when making application.

You are asking about a multi entry non immigrant O visa on basis of Thai wife? No financials required at Savannakhet. 100k in bank account required in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Bhara. Other Consulates in area might require up to 400k but many home country located Consulates would not require.

Hi Lopburi3,

I would like to let you know that in the situation I was 2 months ago, I went for the 60 days extension.

And I got it.

But I could not go to just any immigration bureau, by telephone they really directed me to the one in Surin because I stay in Buriram.

so I just did that.

Now, lately I had to go for my new non imm. O visa and me and my wife went to Savanaket.

I got my visa there just like you said.

Thanks again.

Maybe it is handy to report that here and the result will be listed. I'm not sure....

so here it is...

Wish all of you who is reading this a good and hopefully easy stay in Thailand.
