Only In Thailand. Police Escort For Supercars.

I was sitting at the light of the intersection of Thepprasit and Sukhumvit. Sirens were blaring, 3-4 police escort cars pulled out and blocked Suk in both directions. I assumed it was a royal motorcade, or something like that.

But no! About 2 minutes later 4 brand new supercars go SCREAMING through the intersection and head south. I mean screaming.

Must be nice. A police escort to help you on your way.

Only in Thailand.

Pattaya's roads are congested enough without all of this.

It brings to mind the saying?

"How do you tell the difference between a hedgehog and a supercar?"

..................................................................................."The Hedgehog has its pricks on the outside!"

Sorry. Just had to post it !

Maybe a little envy boys,..I would venture most of us wish we were one of the ones driving the cars... with escorts...ahh, will just have to make do with the other escorts that Pattaya provides.

I must say, they were amazing looking machines. 4 different kinds. Stunning.

If I had a million dollar car, and had to drive in Pattaya, I'd want an escort also!!! laugh.png

w*nkers who have the money to buy one. as simple as that.laugh.png

it brings to my mind the thought "the prick who thinks there's a prick in a supercar would like to have the money of the supercar prick."

If that means being a Thai super brat, i will stick with being a farang in a Vigo anyday.

I wonder what sort of person calls someone a w*nker simply because they own a nice motor.

I much prefer the term 'Lucky W*anker'....

I must admit to being jealous of the folks driving lovely cars as I too would love to be in a situation where I can afford a 25 MB Ferrari...

So, if someone else can afford such vehicles through honest business and work - Good on them.

Back on topic and regarding the OP:

I have mates in the RTP who have offered me a Police Escort in from the Airport when my Parents arrived a few years back, they've also done it for other friends. I chose not to though, I didn't want to be the cause of traffic jams for the sake of getting somewhere 20 mins more quickly, it would have also embarrassed my parents !....

Some however will chose selfishness and their convenience to the cost of numerous others - selfishness and self-centredness is not an exclusive trait of the wealthy Thai's.

Driving the cars without escort would be the thing for most normal people...those that need an escort should have mummy in the passenger seat also.

What sort of person? Easy, one like me.

"Nice motor"? I dont think they are "nice" at all. I think they are just plain stupid.

Jealous? I cant speak for others but certainly not in my case. I could afford one of these things but I would rather burn the money than waste it on such nonsense. They aren't even practical for use on Thai roads.

"Honest business and work"? Here? Are you kidding? Inherited money perhaps, or, more likely, the proceeds of crime or something immoral. Or some combination of the above.

so what was your combination to get the money since you claim you can afford "one of these things?"

But as per your earlier post, you claimed that only illegal or immoral activities could enable someone to buy such cars?

Plenty of honest work and some good investments.

No, I said that here it was more likely to be inherited, illegal or immoral.

I made my money in Europe. I dare say that there are some honest rich people in Thailand who made their money on their own, and without doing anything illegal or immoral, but I dont think that they represent a very high proportion of all the wealthy people in Thailand.
