Proton Preve Cpe

Featured Replies

yeah, yeah I know, Proton does not exactly stand for high quality cars....(a very slight understatement! ;)....).

However, I saw this new addition on the Thai market and thought that it looks rather ok and has some decent features. The top unit has a 138 hp 1.6 low pressure turbo with 205 Nm torque. Priced with decent kit for about 759,000 Baht. Pretty spacious and not a bad looker.

Read a few reviews which were in total rather positive about the quality and handling especially.

Re-sale would surely be a pain....but for what it is worth, at least not another eye-sore from Proton.

mmm, does not look too bad.

Is Proton improving or have we been in LOS too long?

isn't the Preve based on the Mitsibushi EX?

ooohhh i was wrong thats the Proton Inspira

i would say Yes to both! we are spoiled with "no choice" here in LOS.....which on one hand i guess gives us 'less' headaches.

problem is I guess that 759,000 it comes very close to the entry level Civic and Focus.

Hi guys, anybody took the plunge yet and bought one of those and could comment on the experience?

Fear not Frank, the "My Wife/ Brother Said". Lot will Rubbish It..Its hardly worth saying anything here.!!. My Fortuna, My Vigo, My Isuzu, My Ranger, My, My, My, My. You have made your point truckies , for clucks sake.!! Some of us like Suzuki, Hyundai, Proton etc, and we dont get into so much debt that we cant change em should we not like our new purchase in 6 Months.

Preve looks good, but it's still a Proton!

Well it is, but times changes: see Hyundai...they have come a mighty long way... Maybe Proton just made their first decent car and are on to something. I guess wait and see a year and what people say about it...

Hopefully. Proton will come to their senses and actually invest in a decent importer for Thailand.

That would surely help, the dealer in Phuket looks really poor....showroom old and not particularly clean. Only Exora for show, no car to test.... How they expect people to make the decision to buy? Their slogan: drive it to believe it is really nice, yet you can't test it and therefor nobody will take the plunge...

the 1st car scheme hit Proton Thailand hard.. No cars that could be in the scheme. and no bright marketing ideas = unhappy and poor dealers

Whats a Proton Savvy then.?.A Limo.

It's a car made in Malaysia with not enough Thai content to make it eligible as a Thai made car as per the scheme. Which you would know if you had been paying attention!

Maybe if I had the youthful enthusiasm of yesteryear I would be more positive, but as time marches on it takes with it the last vestiges of what was once a man with high ideals and many virtues and vibrant ideas fueled by my previous lust for Wild Turkey. Maybe I should start drinking again??? blink.png

Remember the same sort of saying a few years ago.....

------.Looks good, but it is still a Skoda -----

Sometimes some of you loose Me. Putting down cars you have never driven. Ive had Company Car so price no issue Just driven for 150 Cliks in a New Accord. Now if anyone tells me that a Benz can justify the 3.3 Million the Company Car cost, over this they are deranged. A Proton is bloody smashing after a Scooter to many folks. I also notice the real Benz, Bm /Porche owners are never putting any Ride to the Blade.w00t.gif

This new proton preve looks ok to me. I popped into the local Hua Hin dealer today when driving past. I'm going to have a drive of one and see how it is.

They said it will take 1 week to deliver the new car from stock, sounds good to me.
