PG drops fares on Vientiane and Yangon

BANGKOK, 12 December 2012: Bangkok Airways recently launched promotional fares to Yangon and to its newest destination, Vientiane, but they must be used by 28 December.

The deal is Bt5,920 roundtrip inclusive of taxes and surcharges to Vientiane and Bt6,540 to Yangon.

The promotion is the real deal compared to other full-service carriers. A discounted fare to Vientiane is very rare with the best on offer pegged at Bt7,580.

Bangkok Airways started a daily serviceto Vientiane, 1 December, using a two-class A319 aircraft. It ups the competitive edge on the route as it offers passengers “boutique airline” service rated higher than what TG is offering on regional services.

Outside of the promotion, Bangkok Airways quotes a business class fare to Vientiane from Bt15,430. There is no business class on the Yangon service. On the Bangkok-Luang Prabang route, the carrier currently starts the fares from Bt10,380.

To Vientiane, Lao Central Airlines, the first private airline to operate in the country, sells the lowest fare at Bt3,850 on its single daily flight.

Laos’ flagship carrier, Lao Airlines sells at Bt9,900 on its twice daily service.

No-3-Inside-2.jpgLao Airlines also operates a Bangkok- Luang Prabang flight with fares starting at Bt12,360; daily Chiang Mai-Luang Prabang, from Bt8,990 and four times a week between Bangkok and Savannakhet and Pakse, Bt8,370 and Bt9,900 respectively .

Thai Airways International sells Vientiane (double daily) from Bt10,825, economy class and Bt16,265, business class.

On the Bangkok-Yangon route, Myanmar’s national carrier, Myanmar Airways International, quotes fares from Bt8,665. It operates double daily flights.

THAI with three flights daily sells an economy fare to Yangon from Bt11,865 and business class from Bt18,295.

The low-cost carrier, Thai AirAsia also flies three daily flights to Yangon and is currently offering its lowest fare at Bt4,300 down from Bt4,750.

In October, the carrier also started a service to Mandalay and remains the sole operator. Its promotional fare is Bt2,800, while its regular fares starts from Bt6,290.

All fares are subject to change due to currency fluctuation and are subject to availability.
