I have been to the Thailand-Malaysia match (the second leg of the semifinal of the Suzuki Cup) in Bangkok recently. I was glad but surprised to see so much enthusiasm among Thai fans. Apparently, passion for the national team has grown a lot in recent years (in the past, English football was all that most Thai people cared about). Anyway, there were quite many visiting supporters too and at some sections, Thai fans and Malaysian fans were sitting side by side, with almost no security staff around. It was a tense match but as far as I know and read later, there was no crowd trouble (this wouldn't be the case in many parts of Europe if rival fans sat side by side) and this was great to see.

Thailand eliminated Malaysia but then lost to Singapore over two legs in the final.

I have seen that the Thai team has improved a lot but still has a long way to reach the level of even Asian powerhouses, like South Korea, Japan and Iran.

Whether Thailand will continue with the coach Schaefer remains to be seen. I think that he should continue.
