Jingthing
I don't know. Maybe for the time being, they're mostly open for dinner service? They are definitely serving evening meals. Also they are committed to this new business as they are advertising on BAHT BUSES.
Jingthing
CALLES GRILL and BAR Soi Diana, off 2nd road (where KISS is) Modern Scandinavian Steak Grill Concept This place replaces a long standing old fashioned concept steakhouse. CALLES menu is wonderfully brief and intelligent. A one pager. I highly approve. This is their entire menu! https://www.facebook.com/callesgrillbar/photos/pcb.841688052612413/841688029279082/?type=3&theater You've got some appetizers (including a Middle east sampler), some unusual pastas dishes (such as black pasta w/ lobster sauce), your gourmet burger, your main dish and steak options, a few dishes distinctively Scandinavian, and then of course the obligatory Thai food. Price level is moderate. I wish them well and hope to try eventually. I suppose their burger is going to be on the must try list for the ever ending best burger in town controversy. To add to that PASTRAMI and RYE Jomtien in response to customer demand is in the process of introducing their own American burger options. I reckon with their American cred they're gonna be contenders! Edited October 16, 2015 by Jingthing 1

KittenKong
Several new places on Eatigo: Red Kimchi (Royal Garden Mall), Cape Dara, Chokdee, the Kitchen, Sib cafe. No idea what they are like apart from Cape Dara, which is OK for some things.

Popular Post patsfangr
I just tried Yotin's for the first time. It will NOT be my last time. Very nice place. The owner, Yotin, seems a very nice guy, who speaks excellent English, and is a very friendly host. Today I had the lunch special, which changes every 2 days. It starts with a soup or salad. I chose a Greek salad, which was tasty, and a generous portion. That was served with 3 small pieces of fresh French bread. The main course today was a roast chicken leg in a delicious red wine sauce. Served with well prepared mashed potatoes, and a small side of veggies. Total cost for that was 199 baht. Very reasonable, by my standards. The menu, in addition to the items noted by the OP, includes salmon steak, dory steak, and dory fish and chips. There us also Thai food available, but I didn't check that out today. The decor is very clean and pleasant. There is one air conditioned section. The air con was not on there today, but I'm sure they'd turn it on upon request. It was not uncomfortably warm on this moderate day. In addition to their daily lunch special, they have a BBQ buffet, with salad bar, every Friday, beginning at 11:00 (which is their normal opening time); and a weekly Sunday Roast, with the usual choices. So, whatever your taste or schedule preferences, I think you'll find this place to your liking. As described earlier, it's off of Nern Plubwarn, just about 1/2 km from the east end (Wat Suttawat). Heading east, turn left at the ever present 7-11, bear left when you come to the fork about 70 meters in. The restaurant, which is the bottom floor of a mid-sized house, is on your right. You'll have to park along the road; but there's usually enough space in that area to do so.
KittenKong
I just tried Yotin's for the first time. Quite a lot of info on their Facebook page (I hate looking at FB ), and some pointless photos of several fat people whom I dont know, though I'm sure they are kind to animals and that their mothers love them to bits. "Tomorrow we start with our weekly chef's menu for only 495,-B Chef’s menu : Shrimp cocktail Creamy lobstersoup Salad with goat cheese toast **** Thai premium beef with mushroom-,pepper or blue cheese sauce Salmon steak , white wine sauce and warm vegetables Filled duck fillet cooked in sweet cherry beer and gratin dauphinoise *** Chocolate mousse Crepes suzette Only 495,-B" There are several examples of the daily 199B special menu also, some of which sound good enough to make a special trip for. From the pictures on the site the buffet (295B including one glass of "sangria") seems to be at night rather than during the day, but maybe it's just a camera effect. This is the buffet menu: and a picture which looks attractive
avidflyer
I ate at Mr. Polenta Tuesday evening. I have little knowledge about what to expect of polenta. I had the taragna with Gorgonzola. It was tasty... It was not a large serving but much more than I wanted to eat at one meal. I may go back and try the polenta with one of the more interesting toppings. I was dismayed by the ambiance. Uncomfortable chairs/table; black painted wood. Sorta like out door furnishings. Very bright cool white lighting and very white and completely unadorned walls. No signage to speak of. Pleasant staff. I wish him the best of luck
Jingthing
Yes I agree the decor is sparse. Wall decorations reportedly are forthcoming from Italy. New restaurant ... be patient.

Roger Lee
I was treated to a sneak peek test run at Pastrami on Rye today with their bacon cheeseburger. They've hit a homerun imho. A juicy 1/3 pound 100% beef patty cooked to perfection. Hands down the best burger I have ever had in Thailand. They start serving the burgers on November 1st and I will be a regular when I need a burger fix. Edited October 30, 2015 by Roger Lee

If I feel like posting on a thread about restaurant reviews and happen to mention a great restaurant that I like, so be it. As far as I know, no rules are being broken. Why would you care? If this thread degrades into an endless bickering fest, it's amazing longevity will be threatened. Let's not do that. OKAY? Jingthing
OK, I'm back. Folks, please read the OP of this thread. We're losing that. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/608166-the-hit-and-run-restaurant-review-thread/ Please note the emphasis. NEW discoveries. To SHARE with the public. No it shouldn't be mostly about one restaurant, that is very true. But the new burger menu there, yes, that is BIG NEWS and fits well. I understand a thread concept like this invites anarchy and a BIG HOT MESS, but there are limits, or it just all falls apart. So please read the OP and help bring the thread back on track. Thank you! Just curious as they seem to get allot of free PR here and I know that's allowed if a site sponsor. Not an official advertiser, it's just enthusiastic customers voicing their support for good and different food at reasonable prices, something that is difficult to find in Pattaya. You obviously have a different opinion which is your privilege. Prices might be a little high for some items for the typical cheap charlie TV poster. The sandwiches are so large I make two lunches out of them. The pizza is very good although I personally give the edge to NY Pizza or LaBocca just down the street. Looking forward to their burgers, price(?), I couldn't give a crap as I pay nearly a thousand baht for Hard Rock Cafe or El Gaucho burger in Bangkok. Jingthing
In my opinion, the BEST SPECIAL VALUE this long thread offers is when people learn about NEW PLACES they didn't know about before. Literally new, or new to them. Face it folks, most people ALREADY know about the existence of Pastrami and Rye, Jomtien. But yes, their new burger menu is definitely new, so that fits as well. Very much so. There is another active BEST BURGER thread here going right now. Why not move detailed discussion of P and R's burgers to THAT thread? http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/766876-a-great-hamburger-in-pattaya/ Thank you. Popular Post balo
We have a new Italian restaurant in the Jomtien area! 'Made in Sud' is the name and I just received a leaflet with lots of promotions in it. I believe the owner originally comes from Naples Italy. The one thing I notice from the menu is 'Every day special', a lunch menu between 12:00-16:00. you'll get 2 dishes and a glass of wine for 399 baht. A slice of pizza is 99 baht and most of the sandwiches are 99 baht. Also they offer Italian breakfast for 150 baht and English breakfast for 120 baht. Some pictures from their facebook , I have not visited the place yet but the address is 410/9 M12 trepprasit rd. Popular Post Jingthing
A small update on my previous comments about CHOTIVALA PURE VEGETARIAN INDIAN RESTAURANT 2nd road across from Central Pattaya Beach Mall on this post: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/608166-the-hit-and-run-restaurant-review-thread/?p=9935694 I had mentioned I tried a veggie THALI there and was underwhelmed but liked it enough to want to go back and try a dosa there. Well, I did go back, and still didn't get a DOSA, but did get an Uttapam, which is closa enough. Groan. Anyway, happy I went back, because this was the best Uttapam I've had in Thailand. Definitely like it better than at Saras. I ordered the mix veggie one. There is also a paneer one. It was just super yummy, thick, and I loved the texture. The spicy yellow SAMBAR served with it was excellent. The only letdown is that I was hoping for two chutneys, but there was only the coconut. Price about 160 if I recall correctly. It's mostly a breakfast dish in India but it worked for me as a light nighttime meal. If you're very hungry, you'll need more food. What's Uttapam? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uttapam Edited October 30, 2015 by Jingthing
