hellodolly
No new team of red shirts leaders : Nuttawut BANGKOK: -- A red shirt leader on Monday dismissed as groundless a claim by an outspoken general that ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra appointed new team of red shirts leaders. Nuttawut Saikua said Maj Gen Kattiya Sawasdipol maybe misinformed or misunderstood that Thaksin was not happy with the existing red shirt leaders who Kattiya said were changing their position to a compromising one in their talks with Abhisit government. "Seh Daeng's report is not correct. Maybe he is misinformed," Nuttawut said. Kattiya claimed Monday that he talked to Thaksin on a phone on Sunday. "Thaksin said he would appoint of new team of the red shirts leaders." The new team would exclude Veera Musikapong, Jatuporn Prompan, Dr weng Tohjirakarn and Nuttawut Saikua as they appeared to agree with Abhisit's roadmap and prefer to end the rally. The group had several secret meeting with Abhisit's team, Kattiya said. Nuttawut told reporters that even Thaksin has no authority to change the leaders' team. Each of the new team claimed by Seh Daeng has not yet been contacted about the matter, Nuttawut said. Kattiya quoted Thaksin as saying that those who did not want to fight on should go home. The new team comprises Arisamun Pongruengrong, Suporn Attawong, Kwanchai Praipana, Waipot Apornrat. -- The Nation 2010-05-10 But from what I have read on TV from you & the other regular red haters, TS was the 'big boss'. He funded the whole thing & called the shots. Therefore if this report is to be given any credence, why didn't the leadership change? Even if Seh Daeng was gone the others quoted could have done it & he could have simply paid another 'terrorist' to do the dirty work. So Seh Daeng, was just a pathological liar, to go with his egomania and sociopath disorders. And yet, a great mate of Thaksin, and a much admired leader of the red shirts. makes you wonder, doesn't it? Not him he continues to idolize. The leadership never changed because Thaksin continued to fund it. If he sticks around he might learn some thing but I doubt it. Lesson no.1 The Nation is not a reliable source

I can guarantee that that won't happen. Most of Thaksin's crimes were pre 2007. There won't be an amnesty law if Thaksin isn't included. to add: Interesting that they say that this only includes "those that had not taken part in any decision making process". That would mean that the red leaders are excluded too. Edited January 15, 2013 by whybother

whybother
Red shirts rally at prisonBANGKOK: -- Around 300 members of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship held a rally Tuesday at the Lak Si Special Detention Centre, and donated four sets of exercise equipment to the inmates. UDD leader Thida Thawornset led the group of 300 to make the donation of treadmills, stationary cycles and other exercise equipment. They also read a statement on their proposal to draft an amnesty decree comprising four articles to release those who have been convicted and those who are accused of crimes in connection to the political conflicts and rallies that took place from January 1, 1997 to December 31, 2001. The draft has stated that those who have been convicted and sentenced by the highest court or under trial are regarded as innocent and bear no responsibility, excluding authorities who made the decisions or issued orders related to political activities during the period. -- The Nation 2013-01-15 "from January 1, 1997 to December 31, 2001" ... Obviously that excludes all non-red-shirts. I'm not even sure why I bother to mention this obvious fact. PS just read the topic, but not any of the comments. I suppose that would make it necessary for them to publish a membership list to prevent the inclusion of "fake red shirts".
