Tick Bite Fever?

Featured Replies

The dogs are treated, nonetheless found some fat ticks trying to get into the house. A house that we maintain scrupulously clean.

Flushed 'em.

Two weeks ago, found a few baby ticks when sweeping.

Crushed 'em.

Only at nighttime, I wake up scratching. Bites are found only in inguinal and upper quads. I have never found anything in the bedclothes. My GF never gets bit.

Bites turn light, bright red, raised slightly, like welts. Usually appear in groups. Each about a centimeter in diameter, some smaller, some larger. There is a lack of a "center bite point." The coloring is consistent across the welt.

Itch like mad, last maybe five days, then slowly fade.

I'm not sure it's baby ticks. I don't think they are bed bugs. Can't imagine how they would just show up one day. It's been six months since we stayed anywhere else.

I can't understand why the GF isn't getting bitten (she says because I smell like dog laugh.png ).

Anyway, a week later, there was a day of malaise, fever, the runs, loss of appetite, upset stomach. Skin on torso was sensitive to touch, like when the flu is coming on. Tick bite fever exist in Thailand?

Suggestions? The local hospital is worthless. Closest decent one is 5 hours.

And, really, why don't they like my GF?

There are fevers from tick bites (spotted fever, typhius) in Thailand but what you describe does not sound at all like tick bites.

Ticks don't bite and let go, they attach themselves and you'll see them there on the skin.

What you describe sounds like a hypersensitivity reaction (hives) the question is to what. It could be fleas, bed bugs, lice, other insect or even a non-insect cause (i.e. a contact dermatitis -- in which case it would be to something that comes into contact with that part of the body.

If it is bites, it is possible your GFD does get bitten too but ismply doesn't have the hypersensitivity reaction that you do.

Sorry I can't be of more help....
