what's up with it? there are a few notable exceptions of course. still though, no art part of town.. and with a city this big and diverse I really thought there would be more out there.

are top 40 background music bands really the expat musical heart in this city?

Actually there's quite a nice little music scene here if you know where to look - I used to be involved in it myself. But you didn't mention what kind of music you're interested in.
