Mathias Cascarino and Stephen Meleady to Meet in Farang Super Fight at Lumpinee Stadium

BANGKOK: -- Two of the top ‘farang’ super featherweights currently competing in Thailand are going head to head at Lumpinee Stadium on February 2nd when Stephen Meleady takes on Mathias Cassarino.

Ireland’s Meleady trains at the Jitti Gym and broke into the top ten at Lumpinee in the highly competitive 130 lbs division when he defeated Thai veteran Kongnapa Srimongkol last August.

Cassarino, an Italian who is based at Sitsongpeenong, recently won the WBC International Super Featherweight title and registered Lumpinee wins over Nakamura Or.Piriyapinyo and Silatong Mor Watanachai towards the end of 2012.

Both are highly rated in their homelands and have been making a big name for themselves since moving to Thailand. At the age of 20 Cassarino is five years the younger of the Irishman but started competing at a very early age so probably has a slight edge in terms of experience.

The fight is taking place on February 2nd at a Krikkrai Promotions show at Lumpinee Stadium which starts at 8:30pm and will be broadcast live in Thailand by channel 5.

Great young fighter Mathias, his surname is Cassarino, as correctly stated later in the article.
