They still not realize it, but the tourists make their paycheck on the end of the month. Still thinking they are the king and the customers are the poor people to get money out.......

What?

Argument - loss of face for jet-ski thug - aggressive reaction to restore face...just an everyday story of cuntry folk.....dum-de-dum-de-dum-de-dum...(any Archers fans out there ?) :-) Just remember - to stay safe : Thais are NEVER in the wrong, even when they are.

been great if the german turned on him and kicked 7 bells out him broke his leg or some thing like that teach the little rodent a lesson he could then anooy other tourist for at least 6 months

dont they realise the tourist is there food line

Never encourage a lone Farang to use any kind of violence towards a Thai. They would end up taking on six or more Thais. When it comes to fighting, Thais are the biggest cowards in the world. Do you think the Jet Ski man would have run at the German without the anchor?

Wouldn't you just love for a Charles Bronson type character to meet with these vermin?

One man would never be a match for a Thai, Charles Bronson type or not, I have already stated the reasons.

Interesting. According to another news source a complaint was made by the man on Monday evening, but he did not leave his name. The jet ski operator has been located, so now the German guy has to come forward to receive compensation for damaged goods.

Why don't they do it this way,

just like Koh Phangan, when a shooting happen, the island is now gun free.

So phuket should also be anchor free by now, to be fair to other island.

That my opinion. This jet-ski operators problem will never be solve in thailand

unless government took it over to operate themself and employ new people.

I wonder who the "they" is? Some kid apparently lost it when he realized he screwed up and someone was demanding that he pay for his mistake. Assuming that he should have started weighing the consequences of costing his employer some money for his mistake as well as him losing his job versus the welfare of the Thai tourism industry is pretty far fetched.

It's also interesting that the reported verbal exchange between the two depends solely on one witness who was able to determine exactly what the tourist wanted and what the operator replied. Of course, according to his unquestioned recital, the farang meekly forgave all the damage except for the helmet and when denied this equitable request he strolled off on the beach only to be persued by the demented Thai. (And for the somewhat literal minded who take everything at face-value, that's sarcasm)

Had the newspaper story been the other way around in terms of irrational behavior, the account would have been rejected out of hand by the TV Kangaroo Court. But since it clearly puts the Thai at fault and the angelic tourist to be above reproach, it must be 100% accurate.

Why not ask the reporter that asked the police about the incident? S/He seems to have a very good source of detailed information.

Exactly. It seems the only report the police have received is from the reporter and the amazing detail seems extraordinary.

Yes, Thailand has a justificably poor reputation when it come to Jet-Ski operators. If the story happened as reported, the operator is at fault. But deciding that he is automatically guilty based in his nationality and occupation is all too typical amongst the little old ladies who are in perpetual whining mode on TV. Also assuming that the German did or said nothing to provoke the reaction is a definite stretch of credulity. Unfortunately many of the people who deal directly with tourists are not well educated, not sophisticated, not all that fluent in the various languages spoken by tourists and may have a chip on their shoulders due to poor working conditions and the rudeness to which they are subjected by farang.

Despite the fact that the police have received no first-hand account, they seem to be prepared to seek witnesses as well as the alleged victim. Why not wait for some more valid information before immediately assuming some massive anti-farang Thai conspiracy is afoot.

Perhaps the police can tell us in advance what will happen to the jetski boy and operator if witnesses decide to come forward and confirm the story? If it is the usual case of no prosecution whatsoever, then why should anyone waste their time informing the police and risk getting attacked afterwards?

"Perhaps the police can tell us in advance what will happen ..."

That's left to the Thai Visa regulars who aren't burdened by dealing with facts.

Yes, or maybe the farang could have been SuperMan and called on his pal SpiderMan and the two of them could have shot the ski-jet guy with a ray gun.

One on one would not be a problem, the problem starts when 50 "all of a sudden" friends kick the s..t out of him, which happens quite frequently. donot forget Asian people fight to kill and we fight to win. At all cost try to avoid violence.

Thailand has the best jet-ski operators in the world, for violence and scams, just another day in paradise for the touristssorry.gif

The Thais themselves rate the BiB as very low as regards lowlifes but these jet ski operators as a group must take the award for the 'scum of the universe'.

Amazing that anyone still goes to Thai beaches. What a terrible place for a scam filled holiday, over priced crappy food, blood thirsty locals. not to mention the kicker, polluted beaches and water.

i'll pass.

Cool peeps, stay away... in fact tell all your friends to stay away to, and if ya can please start an email/blog/forum campaign telling people to stay away!! 7+ years on Phuket, no issues whatsoever, loving it!

The German is brainy enough not to complain, as the Police are in with it. How come if they are efficient that they really find hard eradicating this from Phuket beaches..... the thing is they know who is behind the scams....they all profit from it. Best left as it is.... Thailand has gained its reputation. Amazing Thailand!

Looking for a decent holiday....without touts, thugs and tricksters - stay within the EU.... Turkey has wonderful beaches and good food, Spain has great food and beaches, Portugal has good beaches and food. Thailand has lost its charm.....its just left with amazing criminality!

Phuket is turning into a terrible places, with every weeks stories like that.

Tourist please stay away from Thailand.

Go elsewhere in Indonesia or malaysia but NOT Thailand.

So,no problem whatsoever?blink.png

Ok, the real bad changes and overcrowding just started at that time you began living in Phuket.

So you never knew the -GLORY DAYS- rolleyes.gif

You like to drive in nearly never ending Traffic jams on the main roads

and the roads leading from the main beaches to Patong, in Patong, Phuket town and surroundings?

I came 1990 first and liked it until the first years after the Tsunami. Lived for some years in Patong since 98

In the last years, NO! bah.gif To much, to many, from everything! sick.gif

Still visiting friends, but for much shorter periods of time!

PS

Just today, again a Landslide in Patong at a building site which killed at least one worker.

As it is just reported by a Phuket News site which cannot be mentioned or Linked here.

Steeper and steeper they go up the Patong slopes with their buildings,

for some roads which connect them to Patong center you should have knowledge of Motorbike Trial driving,

to approach them on two wheels! blink.png

The German was not an exception; Us Thais treat all tourists the same wouldn’t have mattered if he was French or British everyone here treated with the same reverence.

Phuket needs to have a new tourist logo: Puket, land of angry locals.(and local in this case means crazy)

The Thais I have met here in the hotel-service industry are from up North or Isaan...certainly not from South Thailand. (Am I showing my prejudice?--It is from experience.)

Almost no one you meet in Phuket is from Phuket. However, I do know that the head of the beach operators (beach chairs, jetski's, speedboats, lifegaurds, surfing, and pretty much anything done on the beach) at least at Kata are long time Phuket people and also own a lot of land around Kata going back to the days of rubber farming..

Does anyone remember the Jet ski guy that got smashed by the US marines?

NO, you have a LINK? Who was in the wrong?

Well out of a beach with hundreds of witnesses, I wonder how many will come forward. And of course the Farang will be at fault - as always.

Stop referring to yourself as a farang, it will be a good start.

This is the SECOND time for the particular hotel - building regs are, nothing over 33 degree incline can be built on. I am not an engineer, but this looks wat steeper. Also this hotel has been in pre-opening for a very long time, already doomed to fail OR somone has made their money clean already whistling.gif
