frankly, yes it is better than the old ones. at least it fits into your cargo pants.biggrin.png i prefer android devices, that let me run a lean, fast and stable cyanogen type of os.

people tend to get used to their UI, so if you like apple's policy and ways, like for example modify me and loose the warranty; than go for it. Apple items are a bit of a fashion hype to me.

At this point in time; i can well wait until autumn, seeing the 128 GB version on sale. rolleyes.gif

Well depend what you are looking for. android devices are breast for game and other open source app (esp in Asia). But if your main usage is to read news and view document go with iPad. Remember many app developer builds everything based on iPad platform then android and that means iPad will get everything first. And again iPad including iPad mini screen is 4:3 but android device is 16:9 means iPad is best to view a4 or letter size page on screen (16:9 is best for movie). I have owned both iPad and 7 inch android device. I still miss proper version of CNN app on iPad platform but I love the portability of my nexus 7.

You may want to wait until the new version, the iPad Mini 2, is released which will have the retina display. Unfortunately this may be later in the year.

I believe the 128 GB version is just for the iPad (9.7", aka iPad 4)?

There is a longish thread in the Apple sub-forum which has a lot of local, first-hand usage reports.

CNN has an outsourced and than sub sub sub contracted IT department So you could say, it's not really their fault. To stay a minute on the issue, we could ask: why is still more easy to get "whatever you want" as a torrent as with an app? Digital distribution is around long enough.

But seeing you watching CNN,FOX or Aljazeera news, did you think about to root your TV? How cool is a 42' ipad? You need to twist your remote a bit, too.

Why don't you test it at iStudio shops yourself?

I prefer big one, that is 9.7" iPad retina. iPad mini is too "mini" for my comfort.

Agree don't see the point of the mini especially if you have a smart phone.

Oops, sorry. Some say the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 may roll out in April, so not so long a wait.

The iPad Mini did gangbusters in its first full quarter of release, maybe as many as 12 million units, so it is certainly popular. Maybe some iTouch customers traded/bought up, and not everyone can afford the iPad 4, so the addressable market is a lot larger at that price-point. Unfortunately for Apple, gross margins are a lot lower on the Mini, and it no doubt cannibalized some iPad sales.

Again, if you can wait maybe best to do so as the price on the iPad Mini 2 with Retina display will be the same as the current iPad Mini, and/or you may be able to get an original iPad Mini (1?) at a reduced retail price?

My wife has an ipad 3 and my daughter the mini. We all like the mini better. The non-retina display is in most apps not noticable, I recon. The mini is much handier.

Generally I prefer Android. Better productivity for what I need, and huge choice.

A friend of mine who is currently in Bangkok called me today and said he had bought an iPad Mini for 8000 THB, which appears way too cheap to me.

Does anyone know what street prices for the iPad Mini are like in Bangkok? Are there good fakes on the market?

I cannot help feeling that my mate has been frauded.

iPad Mini WiFi/16 GB MSRP (online store, premium resellers like iStudio), is 11,200 baht.

Not sure what "street prices" are for Apple products? I haven't looked for fake or copy products but I can only assume they exist.

I have the iPad Mini.. I'm happy with it.

I use it more than I used to use the iPad (1), which my wife uses more....

Its easy to read books, surf the net, get news etc and play games, check e-mails etc...

I watch movies on it, although for that purpose the larger screen of the normal iPad is better.

I find that the Mini travels better than the iPad.. (i.e. its easier to carry where its close at hand)

It fits perfectly between Lap Top and iPhone... I found the original iPad a little too large, this is now even more noticeable with hindsight.
