I will need to renew my Non B Multiple entry soon, however at the time of renewal I will only have one month left on my work permit, I have been told that I will need to have at least six months left on the WP to renew the Non B, can anybody confirm if this is true.

Many thanks for any help.

Even with WP a multi entry visa is becoming difficult to obtain locally. If your job allows obtaining extensions of stay from immigration is the best option. You may have to get single entry non immigrant B visa for a 90 day stay.

Kl requires 7 months on work permit for a multiple entry B visa plus company documents.

If the company you are working for and your salary meets the requirements you could get a one year extension of stay at immigration instead of going out for a visa.

You should do the annual renewal for your Work Permit first, Labour will be ok with this even though your visa entry expires within the month.

I can confirm that there has been a significant policy change at KL who are no longer issuing One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Category 'B' Visas as before - several long term 'regulars' have recently been sent away with only 3 month singles.

Instead you are now expected to obtain an Extension of Permission to Stay based on Employemnet within Thailand, the list of required paperwork for Immigration here in Phuket is attached below.

I know of a case where Penang this month have recently issued a One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Category 'B' Visa to someone working for a newly constituted company (November 2012) with only 5 million capitalisation.

Whether is reflects a policy change where One year 'B' Mulltiples are now being issued by SE Asia Consulates when the applicant cannot by circumstance get an Extension, or whether Penang has changed it's policy is not yet clear.

Slightly related, I was granted yesterday a Non-B multiple entry from Penang, which, if I time my last entry to be just before or on the "enter before" date, will actually give me 15 months. But unlike the OP, I have about 11 months left on the WP. The interesting thing is the company is only 3ish months old. I brought company papers plus my personal tax documents showing what income tax I have paid since I obtained the WP in December. I know of a couple people in Phuket that own an established company for 15 years and were denied an M in KL, given only asingle. Going with an established visa run company may help. I did the overnight van visa run from Phuket, booking through Phuket Visa Law Office. 4000B included transport, hotel, and 2 meals. Pretty happy with the experience. Nice hotel. Drivers less crazy than usual. Astonished that some buses don't have seatbelts though. (You have to transfer buses once each way).

I must also say, the addition of young Filipino girls having to do visa runs these days has improved the overall experience, if you are a single male that is. :)

Thank you to all for your help, does anyone know if I can renew the WP one month before it should be done.

Yes, it can be done in advance to run from your existing WP Permission but is depending on your work contract, etc.

If say you work in diving then Labour in addition to the usual stuff, they will also want to see your shop's TAT License annual renewal and papers from say PADI to show that your teaching status is renewed for 2013.
