viewpoint
Heading back to thailand tomorrow from savannakhet. Anyone know if they check your bag at any point along the bridge? I just have a small carry on peice, with duty free junk inside..
Mario2008
Costums can always check, and do so randomly. Not only at the bridge, but also further inside after you passed the border. if you have more then the allowed in sigarettes or booze, you will be fined. hullupullo
Every bag ? I doubt ! Even at Nong Khai they do not xray most of the bags, so at desert Savanakhet border ? It is different layout there, you can not just walk past it. Been there 3 times now and everytime every bag from everybody. There is big plasticbox after x-ray full of playing cards, lighters etc. And K9 dog check that bus for drugs before they let people back in after thai immigration. CobraSnakeNecktie
Maybe 18 months ago I went thru and the Thailand side had a desk of US DEA maybe 4 guys with one asking questions... Kind of weirdly intrusive and I think definitely looking for drugs. Subsequent trip I saw the desk but no DEA guys present. No idea if that is still in effect.
