hi iam going back to thailand in july with my wife and son we want to go for a month possilbe 6 weeks which is the best visa to get to cover us ? and the best way to book tickets ?

my wife is thai

Then, how I see it is ...

Thai Tourist Visa for you which covers for 60 days, applied for before you enter Thailand.

Wifey, one presumes doensn't need one, as she enters Thailand on her Thai Passport?

Son enters on a 30 day exempt as he travels with his mother and will be issued a Thai Passport once in Thailand.

Others with more knowledge will drop by for sure soon ...

This would be better off in the Thai Visa section.

I don't know for sure but I think that if your lad enters on a UK that entry takes precedence, whilst he can obviously get a passport here, I think the entry on the UK passport still has to be complied with and cancelled out with an exit.

I don't think your lad would be charged any overstay fee though, but it's not as simple as just getting his Thai passport here.

Getting your son a Thai Passport in London would be a better option.

He could then leave UK on his British Passport and enter Thailand on his Thai Passport.

Leave Thailand with Thai Passport and enter UK with British Passport.

You would need a single entry Tourist Visa.

For your son get a Thai passprot, his brth must be registered with the Thai government. If born in Thailand it will have been done at the local amphur, if born in the UK you must apply for a Thai birth certificate at the Thai emabssay and at the same time can apply for a passport.

If your son's birth is not registred, the process of getting him registered and than a passport in Thailand itself will take too long. It will also require registering your son on a household registration book. In addition, when he enters on a foreign passport he will be subject to immirgaiton rules till he leaves on his foreign passport and re-enters on his Thai passport.

As said Thai passport needs to be issued in London and used for entry into Thailand to remove need for visa. Passport issue in Thailand can not be done based only on Embassy birth certificate as in London. He might consider getting a single entry non immigrant O visa for entry (does cost double the price but can stay up to 90 days) as makes it easier doing things such as setting up bank accounts, getting driver license and such as it confers an official reason for being in Thailand.
