The Funny Thing About Going To The Dentist Last Night.

Delat Knot is a market set up for a few hours or a day but not every day. The one I went to is once a week in a vacant field. More and more it is turning into a food market as more isles are being changed from clothes or shoes to street food. A plate of fried quail eggs with sauce is 20 baht. I wouldn't peel a dozen quail eggs for 20 baht let alone cook and serve them. I'm a sucker for quail eggs. After them I had some French fries and chicken fingers and some spring rolls and odds and ends. I forgot my watch so I bought one for 100 baht. It was almost 7 and getting dark when I then went to my bank to transfer some money out of one account into another and get an ice cream when I felt a piece of something stuck between tooth and gum. I think some fried spring roll. So I went across the street to the dentist. I had not been there before. No wait. The lady took my name and particulars and a nurse took me into to see one of the dentists at 8 PM. He removed the piece of spring roll and charged me 100 baht and gave me some pills in case it got infected. Let's sum it up. No corruption. No bad women. I didn't get thrown in jail. No one stole anything from me nor did I feel like moving to Cambodia and I didn't see any student gangs.

Aw come on now there must be more to the story than that I don't believe you

You are so right about the dentist here. In London, and I presume the UK, it is really difficult to get onto a dentist's list, and I have no idea how one would get treated there in an emergency.

As for the cost, it is horrendeous there. Here, I got a crown for half the price of one in London, and that was twice the price of one at my local dentist ( needed specialist treatment, so had to go to Chiang Mai ).

The dentist was commenting that I had a lot of root canals, and that some were good, but some poorly done. Yes, the good ones done in Thailand and the bad ones in London!

THANKS it is good to read a story about someones life for 2 hours and to know there are good citizens in this country who just don't want to make money out of you . I went to my dentists in my area , and she was about 60% cheaper than pattaya .

Great post, Kelly. I went to a doctor at a clinic for a scape on my elbow. The doctor examined it and the nurse washed and bandaged it. Then I was given some antibiotics. The TOTAL bill was under 200 baht. I gave them an added 100 baht which they first refused, but I insisted and told them it was for coffee. They then accepted with a smile. Can't beat that.

I fail to see the point of this post.

There is a moral to the story. Not every post on Thai Visa is about bad things. Nor is every post about warning people of impending doom or loss of life and limb. Actually most things that happen in Thailand are good and that is why people here smile.biggrin.png But I can understand after reading Thai Visa for a while why you would struggle to see a point to a post that is not negative.

Man goes to dentist and doesn't get ripped off shocker.

You should write a book man.

What an earth are you rattling on about.

You have just wasted one minute of my life reading that.

I should charge you $3

When you grow up you might learn to play the ball not the man.smile.png

Ha ha. I just wish my life was as exciting as yours.

What's happening tonight then?

Look forward to the report tomorrow.

The OP's title could have also read :- Good News is No News

The question is often asked 'Why are there no 'Good News' stories on the TV, Newspaper, Internet?

Apart from animal rescues and scantily clad ladies (all good there ... biggrin.png ) 'Good News' doesn't get a look in.

The OP is akin to a blog report for the day.

Interesting for some ... rolleyes.gif

For others it's ... coffee1.gif

Our lives are normal.

I understand the balance he is trying to portray.

Is it 'News' what happened to him yesterday ... probably not.

He had a nice day. He was able to seek secure professional services at a price akin to what a local would pay.

Had to laugh at a falang friend of mine a couple of weeks ago, he went to his local Thai dentist (who is a stunning she BTW ) for a cap...

2 jags later and she is puting that cotton wool packing in his mouth for the second time, offcourse he being over sixty he was starting to dose off with the cover over his eyes and laying flat .

As he had to hold this packing in place with his gums tightly closed SHE put the packing in and said bite down hard Sir...well he awoke rather sharply as she was screaming the surgery down, her finger was still inside his mouth.....

The funny thing? The dentist only cost $3.

How much for a toothpick? tongue.png

It was below the gum line. There was a time when I scratched my own back too. I'll have my people call your people......
Make sure they don't arrange a dinner meeting.

(Nice story btw CMK)

I want to know what bank serves ice cream at 7 PM?

I really should take a photo for you. There is a Black Canyon Coffee that sells fresh made ice cream (10 different kinds both with cream and fat free and some Italian ice too) right next to the Bank of Bangkok branch in the Tesco Lotus mall.

I can't believe you did that! How rude! Farangs trying to show that they have more money or something or that the THB is somehow worthless money. The Doctor probably has more than you will ever dream of. You never do that to a professional.

Years ago i was on a small charter flight to go and see Scotland play football needless to say, ’but we soon drunk the bar dry and started on the duty free carry on.

At the end of the flight the tip hat was passed around for the pilot.

No jokes about Scotland playing football please
