In A Relationship: Are Lies Acceptable?

ALL women lie

Some truth in that.

There are lots of Thai women who lie and then lie a bit more and then lie even more and then lie to the point where their entire existence is a lie.

I really pity farangs who talk loudly about their "lovely" Thai GF's/wives.

If they talked quietly do you still pity them?

I do not know of lots of woman who lie so much.

Tactless people end up to be lonely.

Tactfulness is akin to telling white lies or not being economical with the truth.

The questions are, where do we draw the lines between what is white lies and blatant deceptions, deceitfulness, cover ups and mistruths?

I think the line is pretty clear...

If the lie is told to protect someone else's feelings, then this is likely acceptable

If the lie told to protect yourself or would be seen as a betrayal of trust by your partner if they knew the truth, this is not acceptable

If your best mate was out and about in the bars having a good short time with the ladies and you knew this and his wife asked you what was he up to when he was out and about what would you say.?

Lying about how much of her hard earned money she has sent to her useless, blood sucking family...no problem

Lying about whether or not a condom was used when she had sex with a Thai man...big problem

surely a typo? HER hard earned money???

Yes, but it is up to your imagination how she earned it.....

They will all lie,you have the baht. You draw the line.If the lying crosses the line, bye bye

Lying is a gradual thing.

Liers will gradually cross the line you drew.

And the line will move.

No either she will move or I will move makes no difference to me

What I meant was:

It is not that simple to draw a line between lying and telling the truth.

And once you have accepted a small, insignificant lie, the line you drew will become blurred.

Then what?

Um..this kinda coming across as a Thai female bashing thread..

noticed a comment "all women lie".. well, so do all men.. so equals ALL people of ALL nationalities. Really just depends on the KIND of lie (as others have pointed out).

I have no issue with harmless "white" lies. Just not any kind of lie that would damage my trust or faith in someone. That is soul destroying.

<<<<<<<<<<(removed some surpless rambling)>>>>>>>>>>

Edit: i just realised im rambling. ...

My personal conclusion:

-Occasional white lies, fine.

-Constant white lying about absolutely random things = weird, disturbing (would suggest compulsive lier) and not ok.

-Devestating lies, relationship destroying. (the relationship can repair..but would take time and a whole lot of reassurance. Really not worth all the pain and paranoia that damaging did in the first place.)

I think you've added two different sorts of post and come to an erroneous conclusion.

Type 1 ...... all women lie

Type 2 ...... all Thais lie

Your conclusion = all Thai women lie.

This thread is 50% Thai bashing and 50% women bashing.

Thai women were only included as a subset of both types IMHO.

Women often ask questions to which no truth is acceptable.

"Tell me lies

Tell me sweet little lies"

(Stevie Nicks)

My wife tells me often: you have a sweet mouth.

I am not sure what to think of that...

Advise?

It's bad enough when men feel they need to explain themselves to their wives. But a man that feels he needs to explain himself to another mans wife is mind boggling

No, seriously.

Does my wife assume that I lie?

Does it embarras her?

Thai men never have a sweet mouth?

Is that what they mean with 'thainess'?

And do not tell me to ask my wife, she is thai, thais do not talk about emotions.

I take it that she called you "pak wan". ............ She does not think you mean what you say... (How's that for a diplomatic answer?) tongue.png

EDIT In light of canuckamuck's last post, I'll drop the diplomacy. "You're full of crap" fits the bill. clap2.gif
