Just bought an eBook which is password protected in that I need to enter a password every time I open it in a PDF program. Anyone know how I can unlock it so I don't have to fart about with passwords? I have paid for it so I'm not being dodgy.

I don't think it is that easy or we could both be reading it right now (me being the one that hasn't paid for it)

I think you have to read it only in a specific software reader application that is controlled and prevents concurrent viewing.

The company that sold the ebook probably has the reader software, or it may be a device like a kindle.

It's a PDF file. It's just password protected.

Plenty of .pdf password removing utilities, I just Google when I need one, no particular recommendations (don't have one on this PC right now) although I've used this one http://pdf-password-remover.en.softonic.com/

It does depend what version of Acrobat made the file as the later versions are harder to bypass, suck it and see on a copy of the file.

I don't know if is possible, but you can open it on your PC and print it as a PDF file (unprotected obviously) and use the new one.

Check in Google for PDF's printers, there are plenty of them. I use CutePdf Writer.

Lovely but the free version only unprotects half of the original sad.png

Bugger, I'm sure there are free ones that will unprotect the lot. A bit more Googling required, at least you know the file can be unlocked. smile.png

I always use PDF Password Remover v2.5 found with Google. And no printing a PDF to a PDF as one O/p said doesn't help!
