At many clothing markets there are seamstresses that can take care of that for you. Usually they will have a sewing machine on hand but normally takes a day or two for them to get it back to you.

I had a zip break in a pair of shorts.

40 Baht at the local shop (outskirts Bangkok) to repair ... new zip, sown ... everything ... neat and strong.

No idea how they can do it so cheap ... but I did send the gf with the shorts and we don't see many white folk out this way ... so always local prices.
