Pets And Airlines: Temperature Restrictions!

I'm looking for advice from folks who have brought their pets here. I'm trying to get my two cats here (BKK) from the U.S. (Puerto Rico) in late April- they can't travel in the cabin, as they'd scream bloody murder, so would have to be checked baggage or cargo. Problem is, all the U.S. carriers have a temperature restriction and won't ship pets if it's over 29 degrees celsius. Heck, when is it EVER under 29 here? Even foreign carriers in the U.S. aren't possible, as they're usually ticketed through a U.S. carrier that applies its restrictions.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Second question: we're also considering shipping them cargo, which would necessitate an agent on this end to manage customs forms, etc. Does anyone know a good pet import agent here?

I was lucky that my dog was able to be in the cabin with us. Tough trip from Vegas to here on both the pet and me!!!!

I've heard horror stories about shipping your pets here. Lots of tea money being extracted.

If I am not mistaken, some of the planes have a special area for pets. It's pressurized and kept at the same temp as the cabin.
