Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if it's possible to get a family reunion Non-Immigrant B visa to visit my daughter. I am listed on her Thai birth certificate as her father, but am not married to her mother.

Has anyone had experience in a similar situation before?

I am American, 27 years old.

Thanks,

David

B stands for “Business”; not applicable to your situation.

How long do you wish to stay in Thailand for the purpose of visiting your daughter?

If less than 30 days: no visa needed.

If 30-59 days: apply for Tourist visa.

If 60-89 days: apply for Non-immigrant O visa, single entry.

If your full name is listed as the father, then attach a copy of the birth certificate of you go for the

Non Imm O visa option. Not needed as tourist.

Your status as father could also entitle you to an extension, provided you have the money in the bank.

I was wondering about that, but why go to the trouble and expense of a non-imm O visa if the visit is, for example, only for 3 weeks?

It would have been useful, of course, if the original poster had said how long he plans to stay, if he intends to get a job in Thailand, etc. Failing that, one cannot help but assume that he has a life in the USA and a job there to which he needs to return. How many weeks vacation does an employee get in the US (Switzerland: 4 weeks per year)?

Just giving him the options.

He has to decide based on how much time he has available.

Just so there is no misunderstand he does not appear to have any claim for an extension of stay; unless he neglected to say he was legal guardian and supporter.
