Singapore’s President Tony Tan Keng Yam will travel to Burma on Monday for the start of a five-day visit—the first ever by a Singaporean head of state since the two countries established relations in 1966. While in Burma, Tan will open a center of the city state’s trade promotion agency, International Enterprise (IE) Singapore. According to the agency, he will also attend the Singapore-Myanmar Business Forum, which starts on Thursday. The forum will explore cooperation opportunities in industries such as infrastructure, telecommunications and hospitality. During his stay, Tan will visit Rangoon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw.
