Looking To Meet New People (Wingman?)

I'm a young guy from Canada who just came to Thailand 3 days ago. I came alone and I've been trying my best to meet people - and I've met a few and had fun for that evening, but no one really has invited me to anything else. I've just been going to random places and hoping (standing there alone for awhile awkwardly)... but I'm a bit quiet until I'm more comfortable and/or had a few drinks, so it's been tough so far. I'm looking for someone or a group to hang out with - disco, kareoake, gogos, bars, whatever. Someone to take me under their wing a bit maybe. I'm in Bangkok until the 9th, then headed to Chiang Mai.

I'm up for daytime actitivies like temples, exploring, etc too.

Feel free to message me, or reply here with suggestions on what I can do or where I can go. So far I've went to Soi Cowboy... (didn't really meet anyone there other than y'know), Sasso club, and a couple Nana Plaza bars.

Anyway 5 am now, time to collapse.

Sounds like you posted this after just getting back from the night :)

Perhaps a good idea for you ...

When i arrived in bkk 11 years ago alone i also did the rounds.

Found myself in morning night :soi 4: playing pool. Sure theres alot of tourists but also alot of expats playing i got to know. Eventually got to know friends of friends and so went with a few to the pool place on soi 7 . With a couple of friends was more comfortable to talk and meet more friends. And so it went untill a new group of friends that enjoyed each others company was created.

From my experience in the area your talking about pool certainly helps to break the ice .

Ps moved to Phuket some years later again alone, same rule , same result. Over time this has happened in Pattaya and Samui also.

So kind of cool to go any of these places and have allready a circle of friends. And is great to mix with different people. Expats from all of these areas really are location specific and its nice to mix with different people.

Not for everyone perhaps but it certainly worked for me, give it a try , nothing to lose ! :)

I met the OP and took him to Ko Kret along the river to Nonthaburi. We also went to the only Ethiopian resto in Bkk. I got him a Rabbit card in the BTS and introduced him to many ladies not in the bar scene. I think he's happy now.

If anyone else is up to meeting, I enjoy showing people around as I speak fluent Thai and know the city well. I do not want your money. Please contact me by email. Thank you.
