Liverpool F.c.

Presumably folks on here are following the excellent David Conn on Twitter who is at the Hillsborough inquest. If not, he's well worth following. He's currently reporting on the testimony of Trevor Hicks who lost both daughters that dreadful day. Listening to his testimony is horrific in itself but it does so much to emphasize the cruelty of the authorities to have made these bereaved families wait all these years for some semblance of closure

BBC and various media reporting tonight that Liverpool have rejected 40 M from Man City for Sterling.

Lot of bickies for a player that's made it very clear he wants to leave.

I think you have to factor in the "Premier League money is doubling" factor and the "Shaikh won't be spending it on Cristal for a month" factor.

Excellent interview with Tony Evans, some home truths here...

yeah a lot of annoyingly awkward truths indeed. got drunk with an old mate in london last night and most of our conversation was along those lines. don't really see us playing any catchup on the top four this summer, only falling further behind.

It's difficult to be optimistic isn't it...the most enjoyable part of this summer may be watching the fair weather fans on Twitter melt down and scream for blood when they wake up to the FSG reality.

Joe Gomez signs. Official.

Liverpool FC have today completed the permanent signing of England U19 international Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic.

The 18-year-old defender has penned a long-term deal with the Reds to seal a switch to Anfield from the Championship side.

Gomez made 24 appearances in all competitions for Charlton last season as he made an assured step up to senior football.

Capable of playing in a central position or at full-back, the Londoner represented England U19s on three occasions during 2014-15.

Upon signing his contract with the club, Gomez told Liverpoolfc.com: "It's a dream come true. It's a bit surreal and it hasn't really hit me yet. But I'm buzzing and just excited to get started.

"The club has got great history and it's a great club, and one that I've always been following from when I was young.

"The style of football and the top players here was somewhere that I wanted to go and get better and learn, and play good football. It was an easy decision."

The youngster follows midfielder James Milner, striker Danny Ings and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan in agreeing summer moves to Liverpool.

Going straight out on loan; favourites are Derby.

No, he hasn't.

It's amazing how all the major news sites said he had, and they were all duped by some fake account.

Crazy how crap reporting and fact-checking is these days when everyone wants to be first to the story on the internet 24-7, and anyone can put up some fake news on ther internet at any time, rather than having only one deadline a day and being able to check sources before the paper goes out.

Give it another year and he'll be another one produced / churned out whistling.gifbiggrin.png

Didn't Alfie say something along these lines whistling.gifclap2.gif

I don’t blame the kid. City will pay him £175k-a-week, he’s on £35k. A wage of £175k within a season will probably set him up for life.

If he did his cruciate now, and he’s on £35k a week, and his playing career is over, he never gets another good deal or he never plays again – his insurance will be linked to his wages. He’s got loads of things to think about, and Liverpool should’ve addressed some of those issues last summer.
