Bit of a strange request.

I met a lovely taxi driver on my previous visit to thailand. Hes a bangkok taxi driver. I did have his number but i have lost my phone.

The only thing i have is the taxi number that is placed on the dashboard. Is it possible to locate him using that number?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I was thinking you could just take 100 taxi rides and play on the statistic chance of meeting him again, but the odds are not in your favor.

With 60,000 taxies in Bangkok, the chance is:

P(100) = 1 - (59,999/60,000)^100 = 0.17%

P(1000) = 1.65%

P(10000) = 15%

P(X), X = number of rides.

NB: Better ask another Taxi driver than the lot here.

You remember the color of the taxi?

If you have the color of taxi and the registration number, it should be possible.

You might be able to identify the company the taxi belong to.

However,

I would not be surprised if it was another who drove it, than the registration belong to.

Need to rework those figures as according to the Land Transport Dept there are just over 80, 000 registered taxis. They also estimate there are over 10k unofficial taxis

With the taxi number you should be able to easily locate the taxi as least as each one has a unique id number, if you knew the company that would make it that much easier as you could contact them direct. (Don't say pink as there are around 6 different pink taxis companies)

Not help calling the BMA, ignore that. Call the Land Transport tax complaints number 1584 and explain that you wish to contact the driver of the vehicle as he helped you last visit and you want to thank him - otherwise they may not help so much, they like good PR stories.

Keep in mind that the driver may not be the same if it is a company taxi as they do have high turnover. (If it is a owner driver taxi - yellow and green OR blue and red, then it will be more likely)
