A friend who had to make 800,000 claim after road accident highly recommended BUPA which at age 58 was 4ok per year.

Be much obliged for commens or any other recommended providers from users who have actually had to make aclaim.

As here 10 months a year I do not think overseas insurers will regard this as a holiday.

I have used a Danish firm via Oz for vists to USA.

Australin ased is good for ease of payment but I guess any firm that will quote in bahts with no transfer costs from local account also possible.

Also considerng adding Thai wife tho of course she has preferental rates here.

My local Hospital Overbrook has a sceme but you cannot be sure where the need will occur and a C Rai hospital howvere good is not much help if run over in Bangkok.

Thanks in anticipation from droughtlands.

I have BUPA, have had for more than 10 yrs. 2 claims over the years, neither any problem.

If you insure by a certain age and keep up the payments they guarantee lifetime enrollment. Rates will rise as you age, of course.

Once you have a claim, however, if you later want to upgrade your cover it may be a problem or at the least they will exclude anything related to the prior claim from the increased level of coverage (but you'll stay covered at the original level for that). For this reason it is a good idea to think long and hard about the level of policy you get and there is much to be said for a higher end package. I have platinum (inpatient only).

The Platinum plan will also cover you outside of Thailand except for USA. Which is useful if you travel a lot.

Another advantage to BUPA is that it is one of the best known local plans so most hospitals are familiar with it and will bill them directly.

Thanks excuse misposting,I assumed Health

Most helpful answer I have eMailed asking them for a proposal form their nearest office is around 300km away

Will they require a medical from ther own selected panelo f Drs /Clinics?Hospitals etc or could I get that done in C Rai?

I am well at present which seems a good reason to enroll

If you don't mind me asking, do you feel comfortable having only inpatient cover? I also considered BUPA but was informed by the agent that inpatient care didn't cover most cancer treatments (which can be expensive), and adding outpatient care put them out of my budget. So in the end I went with LMG.

The big concerns, at least for me, as regards in-patient coverage in Thailand are heart attack, stroke, brain aneurysm, and those events that strike suddenly and with little or no warning.

Cancer is a much different course of events however, if one is a heavy smoker and/or drinker, I could see how that might be more of a concern.
