Don Muang Airport Bus

There is now again an airport bus at Don Muang, providing quick and cheap transport to and from Don Muang Airport and the city. As of now there are two lines, operated by the BMTA itself. (orange aircon bus, with room for luggage and even a wheelchair lift)

Line 1 goes from Don Muang to Chatuchak, where it stops at the BTS/MRT and then goes on to Mochit Busstation, which is the final destionation. A ticket to Mochit is only 30 baht per person and takes about 40 to 45 minutes outside of rush hours.

Note that the bus stops on the pavement outside Mochit and not at the ticket counters/taxi drop off point, so you will have to walk about 100 meters with your luggage.

In my hurry I didn't take note of where the other line is going to and I can't find anything on the internet yet.

And to correct you these are not really new, the A1 has been running since Jan. The A2 since early March.

Here are pics of the free shuttle bus to Swampy (at the bottom) just in case you are not sure. Schedule earlier in the thread

A1 to BTS Mo Chit and Mo Chit 2 Intercity Bus Terminal and return.

A2 (new) runs to BTS Mo Chit & Victory Monument and return.

(A1 and A2 cost per normal BMTA fares - max 30 baht)

from even before the day when DMK was THE airport, there are scores of normal citybuses on that main road- and thats ''only'' FREE (if you hit the right red one), 6,5 bt (the other reds), 8 bt (the whites), or 13/15 bt for the orange AC. JUst READ that poster some superfriendly Japanese has sticked on the pillar of the waiting shelter at main road for all routes-and also READ the warning about short workings!

If you are well versed in thai, the 30 bt MINIvans run ev 2-3 mins direct via tollway to the Vict.MOnument.

Old hands will probably now come and extoll about the virtues of the always late slow trunder of the clickety clack trains to Hualampong- at least doubling the transit time.

Been trying to get through to Bell Travel Pattaya ref getting to DMK from Pattaya but until now have had no response.

Does the service exist, ie direct or do you have to go to sampy first then transfer somehow ?

Took the A1 bus from Don Mueang to Mochit on Thursday afternoon.

Was at Mochit today, wanted to catch the A1 back to Don Mueang. Inquired at the BMTA Information Desk in the area where all the BMTA bus platforms are located as to where I should board the A1 bus. I was told in no uncertain terms by two BMTA staffers that there was no such bus to Don Mueang from Mochit. If I wanted to go to the airport by bus I would need to take one bus to over to Chatuchak and catch another bus to the airport from there.

I knew that the information offered was incorrect but not having the luxury of a lot of extra time to hunt for the bus stop, I opted to take a taxi to the airport and fight the bus battle on some other trip.

Just to make it clear you took the bus to Mo Chit Intercity Bus Terminal on Thursday right? (remember that some people will get the two Mo Chits confused if you don't make it clear in your post). I wonder why they told you that?

Many buses from Mo Chit 2 Intercity terminal go around to Chatuchak/BTS Mo Chit and only takes 5 mins. And a few head up Vihavadi rd past DMK to Rangsit.

Everything about DMK is a total mess and a nightmare.

I never have to deal with crap like this at BKK. That airport has been operating with AA since October last year I think, still a runny-poo mess.

Clearly, you are out of your depth, especially since you are in a DMK bus thread. The good thing is that no one is forcing you to use DMK, you have another option. It is ok as both airports offer different options for different travelers needs.

DMK airport never closed, it continued operating ever since the new BKK airport opened in Sept 2006. It maintained domestic flights from thereon at the Domestic Terminal. Domestic flights then shifted to T1 prior to the AA move to DMK.
