MEDIA ATTACK
Police chief plays down attack on Thai Rath

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The weekend attack at the offices of Thai Rath newspaper was instigated by a "third party" but not aimed at hurting anyone, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Khamronwit Thoopkrachang said yesterday.

The attacker merely wanted to stir things up and make it appear to be a political issue, he suggested.

The security box in front of the newspaper's offices in Chatuchak district had been subjected to a firecracker and petanque-ball attack early Saturday morning.

Siroj Mingkwan, president of the Crime Reporters and Photographers Association of Thailand, said the attack looked to be of criminal intent.

"The weekend attack at the offices of Thai Rath newspaper was instigated by a "third party"", really, you mean Thai Rath did not do it themselves, well I never.

Chalerm is on it, it wouldn't be anything to do with those pesk red shirts, would it?

The Pol. Gen. says " make it appear to be political " whereas the rest of us are convinced it couldn't be anything else. Of course it will be played down because the PTP / reds don't want any of their members being linked to this. The BIB are joining DSI as a wholly owned subsidiary of the PTP government.

Yes it's a very profound statement and it sounds like he's suggesting opposition elements did it to stir things up presumably trying to get totally innocent red shirts blamed when we all know they would never break the law.

The invisible hand is at it again. Thailand, the HUB of invisible hands.

Excellent!! another "Hub" joke... never gets old, every bit as witty as the first time. not a day should - or does, it seems - pass without one.
