I'm presuming you are not an employee of the IRS?laugh.png

By the way, I had a hard drive crash early this month. It was my second one in nearly 12 years so I know it happens.

Don't you find it extremely unusual that there are seven hard drives, all connected with the IRS scandal, that mysteriously died during the same time frame deleting the same information?

I wouldn't even try to defend the odds presented. The entire thing reeks of cover-up to me though.

Either something is terribly wrong or they need to find a new supplier. Were they bought from China by any change?

In view of these latest revelations, I don't understand how the US attorney general can escape appointing a special prosecutor? He is only likely to do so reluctantly given that it would damage his party politically but isn't that a huge conflict of interest that the attorney general can potentially keep supressing what the special prosecutor would be likely to find because of political reasons? blink.png

Can Congress for example force him to do so at some stage?

Since the middle east is burning, Ukraine and Russia are having a little spat, another innocent black teenager has been callously murdered by a white policeman, Hillary has stuck her foot in her mouth yet again and Obama is on vacation in Martha's Vineyard...the latest on the IRS scandal just keeps getting juicier and juicier.

This is proof positive of the old adage... The first liar doesn't have a chance.

Judge Demands Answers After IRS Contradicts Sworn Testimony on Lerner’s Scratched Hard Drive
9:24 AM 08/15/2014
Patrick Howley
Political Reporter
U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan Thursday ordered the Internal Revenue Service to come up with new answers after IRS employees contradicted sworn testimony about damage to Lois Lerner’s hard drive.
Sullivan ruled that “the IRS is hereby ORDERED to file a sworn Declaration, by an official with the authority to speak under oath for the Agency, by no later than August 22, 2014″ on four issues: the IRS’ attempted recovery of Lerner’s lost emails after her computer allegedly crashed, bar codes that could have been on the hard drive, IRS policies on hard drive destruction, and information about an outside vendor who worked on IRS hard drives.
Recent documents from nonprofit group Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the IRS, which Sullivan is presiding over, showed that IRS technology officials contradicted sworn testimony about damage to Lerner’s hard drive.
Aaron Signor, an IRS technician that looked at Lerner’s hard drive in June 2011, said in IRS court filings that he saw no damage to the drive before sending it off to another IRS technician, leading some in the media to suggest that the lost emails scandal is basically over. But Signor’s statement, issued in response to the Judicial Watch lawsuit, does not jibe with sworn congressional testimony.

Does this mean that you are done with Benghazi?

Squeezed all the juice out of that one, so we are just left with the IRS.

Nope. There is still plenty of fruit on the Obama Scandal tree to get more juice from.

Congress is on break now so the investigations are silent.

Obama is spending a couple of weeks in Martha's Vineyard at government expense so he should be good and rested upon his return...unless the fundraisers wear him out.

That's ok, Obama is still the best campaign weapon the Republicans have going for them.

I don't think anyone is on particularly firm ground for the forthcoming elections.

Whilst the Right may do extremely well out of it, incumbents must be cacking their Calvin Kleins.

Their mistake was not targeting ALL such political action groups, including religions. thumbsup.gif

NONE of them deserve to be tax free.

This is really bad now, because now with this "scandal" the extremist right wing groups will be given a special pass on LEGIT enforcement and some of these groups are really dangerous, even some favoring violent revolution against the legal government of the USA. So the decent peace loving tax paying American law abiding citizens will be subsidizing these far right wing extremist pro violence groups. Shocking.

Religions are not tax free in the US or religious political groups?

Why is that?

It's not rocket science. Singling out groups based on politics was wrong. It will be fixed now. If there is a smoking gun linking Obama to these orders, you've got him but chances of there being such a smoking gun are about 1 in a million. Have fun!

After listening to excuses from IRS officials about why they cannot produce "lost" emails requested through a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan has ordered the IRS to come up with a better explanation as to why the agency cannot produce valid documentation.

In an extraordinary step, U. S. District Court Judge Emmett Sullivan has launched an independent inquiry into the issue of the missing emails associated with former IRS official Lois Lerner," President of Judicial Watch John Fitton said in a statement. "Previously, Judge Sullivan ordered the IRS to produce sworn declarations about the IRS email issue by August 11. Today’s order confirms Judicial Watch’s read of this week’s IRS’ filings that treated as a joke Judge Sullivan’s order

This just out today. It would appear the IRS is not as open and transparent as Obama might wish...or not.

Judicial Watch: DOJ Admits Lois Lerner’s Emails Do Exist on Gov’t Backup System
August 25, 2014 - 3:43 PM
By Curtis Kalin
A Department of Justice attorney admitted that “lost” emails from Lois Lerner’s hard drive do exist on an emergency backup system, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said today.
<snip>
"The Department of Justice attorney told the Judicial Watch attorney on Friday that it turns out the federal government backs up all computer records in case something terrible happens in Washington and there is a catastrophe. So the government can continue operating. They say it would be too hard to go get Lois Lerner's e-mails from that back-up system."

It is time for these BS artists to pay the piper for lying to the American people for all this time.

What is shocking is the commissioner himself lied through his teeth when he was before the committee hearings?

And this IRS scandal just keeps getting more legs added every day or so. It seems that the IRS took Ms. Lerner's government issued Blackberry away from her shortly after the Congressional investigation began.

Never fear though, they issued her a nice new clean one for Valentine's Day 2012.

Her old one. along with everything on it, was destroyed in June 2012.

The main stream media has failed to pick up on this so far. It is not an issue for discussion.

Blackberry Blackout: Nets Refuse to Report IRS Destroyed Lerner's Phone After Probe Began
Published: 8/26/2014 12:13 PM ET
By Geoffrey Dickens
Deputy Research Director
On the heels of a Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyer admitting to Judicial Watch that Lois Lerner’s missing e-mails do exist comes another stunning revelation.
On Monday evening the New York Observer reported “the IRS destroyed Lerner’s Blackberry after it knew her computer had crashed and after a Congressional inquiry was well underway.” Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) network coverage of this fishy behavior on the part of the IRS and Lerner? 0 seconds.
There hasn’t been a single story on the Blackberry destruction or the DOJ lawyer’s admission of the existence of Lerner’s e-mails on any of the Monday evening or Tuesday morning shows on ABC, CBS or NBC.
All three morning shows on Tuesday did find time (5 minutes, 32 seconds) to cover the altercation on a plane caused by an unruly passenger upset about the "Knee Defender" product intruding on her personal space.

I won't post the whole thing, I'll just say that if you call this a "tax scandal" then pour a coffee and read the link below.

Frankly this Republican focus on petty partisan squabbling distracts people from the real crime.

Which is exactly what it's designed to do.

You know as well as I that your link has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

The scandal here is the abuse of power by the federal government and the subsequent cover-up of that abuse.

The IRS is a den of thieves, led by an incompetent Attorney General reporting to a President that has possibly endorsed the entire plan.

What needs to be found out is how high this abuse goes. Did it start in the IRS, the DOJ, a Democratic Senator or even, God forbid, the White House?

And that's why the House Oversight Committee is holding hearings...to perform their oversight responsibilities.
