My buddy just married his thai wife and she has 2 friends that suposenly had there fiance visas to australia approved after only 1 and 2 months contact with there partners. When i was told this i automatically assumed she got 1 or 2 months mixed up with 1 or 2 years but apparentky not. From all the research ive done i dont see how this would be possible.

What are your thoghts on this,do you think it is possible ?. Im also fairly certain they came from the bar scene and not any high profile job with personal assets.

I dont know how this would be possible either, it does sound awfully fishy. The only reason I can think of is that the sponsors had a s*itload of money and knew people at immigration.

You got me stumped......... :o

I would be most surprised if this was the case. I met my Thai wife in May 2004. We married in Perth October 2005 and then did the Buddhist ceremony on Xmas Day in her home town. She has been a teacher (government official) for 10 years and was well respected in her profession. I have a secure well paid position in the IT industry in West Australia. We applied for the spouse visa on December 12th 2005 and are still waiting! If what you say is true, I would want some clarification from our immigration department on how this can be. My wife belongs to a Thai forum for Thai women waiting for visa's. There are cases where women have obtained spouse visa's in 5 and 10 days. The average seems to be 2 to 2.5 months. Even the Australian Embassy in Bangkok website state that most will get it in about 3 months. So now we are wondering why its taking so long for ours to come through. My wife is extremely thorough and prepared everything in 3 thick files which we submitted on December 12th. We have been told the file left the case officer in Feb and is with the Australian officials. Not wanting to sound conceited, I would have thought we were a model couple for spousal immigration! So, we still wait everyday for the call, this is the longest we have been apart since we met! It is extremely frustrating!

I think that people get mixed up with tourist visas and Spouse visas....Also that forum may not be quoting visa times for Oz but for other countries.

Also some years ago the process was a lot simpler and quicker....it has tightened up considerably in the last 4 years. so it is possible that some got their visas a lot quicker than it is possible to do now.

The average for Oz is about 3 months...but it can take longer depending on each application. If you have not been asked for further documents or info at this stage then you can assume that it is going smoothly at the moment. It has been sent to the Embassy so it is in their hands now. I would think that you should hear something soon.
