HardenedSoul
Sure sounded like you were saying stuff like "anyone who pays for it must be a loser". If I "pay for it" and don't get fooled, make sure I get good value for my money, if the fact that I'm old and bald and fat and don't have enough money to attract a youngster back home, and no way in heck would consider having sex with a women within thirty years of my age, does that automatically make me a loser in your eyes? If yes, then you're being way judgmental and let people be as they are until they start actually harming others. IMO No it didn't sound like that at all but take it any way you like. I'm surprised you didn't mean it that way, I won't take the time to copy and paste all the many phrases that I took to mean that, if you go back and look at them yourself from my point of view you'll probably see how I came to that mistaken conclusion. Also you didn't respond to my very specific question.
cardholder
Everyone pays in one form or another. There goes the neighbourhood. Still, it did take16 pages for someone to trot out the time-honored refrain of the lovelorn clod without a clue as to what makes women - Thai or otherwise - tick. >I'm not surprised,at that age she'll probably qualify for a free bus pass over here soon!Maybe you need a mother-like figure in your life, you do seem a bit insecure! As for me,give me the young 'uns any day!I much prefer the twentysomethings that are like a breath of fresh air,not jaded or bitter by previous relationships and energetic where it matters! Y'know, I wouldn't mind being described as insecure were it by anyone other than the forum clown who spends his days marauding through the various threads trying to convince everyone he's got it soooo bloody right. Try getting a life, mate. Failing that, a personality. It's OK - he has a "sense of fun"... ... and some "bottom dollars" - whatever they are ? Popular Post Morden
Perhaps what causes the age gap police to sharpen their pencils most furiously is the extreme gap. Picture the scene. Your a youngish (except to people younger then you) guy sitting outside the Indian restaurant in the arcade at the bottom of Soi Diana. Your Biryani is being cooked and you're people watching over a bottle of your favourite beer. Around the corner from the direction of the bars area comes the couple you've been wanting to see. He seems to be in his 70s and she's probably around 30. Your judgement needle flips round to the red section. Just hold it there and think about that old chap and what his life may have been and has become. He was born during WWII. Other slightly younger models were baby boomers. Whichever Western country he's from, he entered a world that hadn't recovered from WWI when the Depression hit. Then came WWII and he was a lad when his country was struggling economically after 1945. The social culture, at least in Europe and the UK, was little better than austere and you were expected to dress and behave in certain ways according to your age. In Britain, immigration from Asia and the West Indies began a huge revolution in the attitudes of the young, including the man you are watching. The Rock 'n' Roll era into the 60's took the changes many stages further. It's this generation, to which that old man belongs, that created the social freedoms that you young things enjoy today. So, why should he end his days alone in physical decline, perhaps expecting that the daily carer will find him dead one day when she visits? His body may not be what it was but his mind may still be as active and rebellious as it was when he was a youth. Now that he's retired, he can rebel again rather than wither away. And, of course, he has the advantage of Viagra, probably the last social revolution that he will experience and enjoy. Today, perhaps, he was woken with a pleasant pull, had a leisurely breakfast, did some walking and shopping with the young girlfriend, had a snooze on the beach, lunch, a beer or two in the afternoon and now they are walking into that Italian restaurant a few doors down from where you sit. He doesn't give a flying fig about the opinions of those who are younger and judgemental. Nor should he, of course. He's going out with a bang!

ABCer
Dear OP. Here is my 2 bit opinion on the question you popped. West. Two people of similar age form a family. If they stay together - fine. If they split - children get financial support, mother gets most of his assets. Two people of very different age form a family. Cannot stay together for very long. Mother gets all of his assets. Children issue is not an issue. Teenage sex flourish, but modern education usually prevents scandalous outcome. East. Teenage sex flourish, but lack of education cannot prevent scandalous outcome. Two people of similar age form a family. If they stay together - fine. If they split - ??? Remember TIT! Two people of very different age form a family. Cannot stay together for very long. Mother gets all of his assets. Children issue is not an issue. All the above is true only in statistical terms. Not applicable to individual cases. Before any anti-ABCer starts bashing my head, please remember: this is my opinion only. I may be wrong. But whatever you say may be not right either. I make no claims for infallibility, but do not ask of me to stop being 'so objective' or 'so philosophical' or 'so judgmental' - I cannot. BTW you may notice the word 'Thai' never appeared in my post. I don't believe Thai men or women are different from any other in the world. Only the TIT factor is. Too bad if the young Farang of Thailand can't be gracious in their approach to their elders behaviour, but hey....their turn is coming and the next generation will be giving them stick in the same way ! The wartime and boomer generations have gone from no tv (or TV!), no 'phone, food rationing, no fridge in many cases, seen the NHS, State pensions and welfare system develop from nothing and a whole host of changes to where our home countries are today. Our generation, as I pointed out earlier, produced new music, new clothes styles, new hairstyles and the idea that we wanted wages that would support savings, private pensions and enough for eating out, a few beers and discos. Personal relationships gained freedom from the straightjacket of strict codes of behaviour and divorce cases being reported as dirty stories in the local and national press. We created package holidays - remember Rimini and Benidorm breaks out of season for 25 quid all in? We created the demand for that, earned the money for all that. I'm damned if I'm walking away from it now! Younger folk who would have us live as we might have done had we not demanded and created better things are faced with the present recession. Despite the problems, they still have more than we had. I hope that they enjoy what they can now but they might consider laying off criticism of the generations that worked for it.

When I explain to my own children and grandchildren what my life was like in the austere 50's and rocking 60's they find it hard to believe compared to the lives they have later experienced. Today young people in the West have never had it so good, but meanwhile they expect all those that went before them to just shrivel up and die instead of shrivel up and continue living the life that they have every right to live no matter what that means. I fail to see the need for any 'younger' generation to begrudge the 'older' generations their day in the sun. They have their youth and likes of falkan can go and play sexual olympics with his slappers. I have no envy for anyone who is younger than me - yes, occasionally I wish I had arrived 20 years earlier - but I was doing what Morden was describing on the costas. Good luck to the youngsters, most of the playground is yours. There is enough activity around for those of us who are 'fat and fifty'. You don't need to be under 30 to satisfy a girl. I don't care if you begrudge me enjoying my time - I just don't see why you waste your breath on such a negative approach.
