What Kind Of Snake Is This?

Featured Replies

Can anyone identify this rather large snake that was photographed slithering along the top of a friends fence today. Not a great photo as she did not want to go to near it . It was at least another 3rd longer out of shot. Near the beach between Chalong & Rawai. Is it a kind of Python?

Here is another picture that shows the snake it certainly looks like Nomad Joes description of a Golden Tree Snake but it must be a fully grown adult as its at least 5+ft long

If it's really golden tree snake (looks a lot like), then that is very big specimen. All I have seen have been max 1 meter in length and quite thin.

Due the size I though it could have been cat snake http://www.siam-info.com/english/snakes_boiga.html

Definitely a Golden Tree Snake. I agree with others that that is a very big snake for this species.

Very common in Phuket. They are also "flying" snakes. I've seen them leap and glide.

Yes I agree a Golden Tree Snake thanks for the links a very nice looking big snake!
They're very beautiful snakes, we have a mob of them up our way. Unfortunately the local "Tarzan" types like to kill and eat them, they think they will put hair on their chests!!
