Scholarships for study in Italy

BANGKOK: -- The Italian Government is offering scholarships for the 2013/2014 academic year to Thai candidates wishing to attend graduate, post-graduate and single courses, as well as conduct research activities, at any legally recognised Italian universities and high education institutions.

Study courses include, but is not limited to the following fields: language and literature, physics, information technology, sciences, civil and electronic engineering, agricultural and food industry, environment, telecommunication, energy, micro-and nano-technology, conservation and technology of restoration, aerospace, arts and music.

The duration of the scholarships, which will be granted from January 2014, may vary according to the calendar of the courses, usually up to 9 months of attendance at the selected institutions. Applications for the scholarship renewal are possible in case of completion of long-term courses.

Beneficiaries will get a monthly allowance 700 euros, but have to make their own travel and lodging arrangements. (Since scholarships will start from January 2014, the expenses for attendance of any courses beginning before January 2014 will be the students' own responsibility). They will be covered by health insurance at the charge of Italian authorities. An officially appointed Italian-Thai Committee shall be established to evaluate the applications and make a selection of the beneficiaries.

Pre-requisites of candidates:

1. Good knowledge of the Italian language, with appropriate certification or certified through conversation with a representative of the Embassy of Italy or Italian lecturer at local universities;

2. Possession of title of study required by the selected university or institution;

3. Legal age not over 35 years, except lecturers effectively working exclusively in teaching of the Italian language (for Italian language and culture course for teachers), or except otherwise required by selected institution.

The venue and the period of the course to be attended cannot be changed without the previous agreement of the Italian Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Italy in Bangkok.

The application form must be filled online, no later than May 31 (click "Study grant application" at: http://borseonline.esteri.it/borseonline/it/index.asp.
