No changes reported for getting multiple entry O visa based upon marriage KL. Still need to show at least 100K in the bank. It is 550 for the visa now.

Savannakhet Laos is another location where you can get it and no financial proof is needed.

Forgot to ask earlier, do they require a certificate from the bank saying that the money are there, or a copy of the saving book is enough?

Thanks

As said no financials required at Savannakhet - for KL a look at your bank passbook should do it - don't forget marriage certificate and copy and copy of wife ID card and home register.

My experience having had 2 married visas successfully there.

1 They were quite happy for an Australian Bank statement which had well over the baht amount.

2 Despite pre-printing the application the door man advised to use the one handed out at the open time scramble.

3 Do not omit to get both parts of the ticket from the machine, the clerks will send you back if you are a recidivist.

4 Finally while efficient for those who cannot rush up the stairs and grab the early tickets at 0930 door opening there is little advantage queueing at gates with the hordes of soap rationers at 0830 as you may still be sitting 2 hours later in a pretty cramped hot room.My tip take water ,book or musi and arrive 11am,doors close 1130.

5 Collection provided all in order next day very swift at 1430 I was around 11 in queue and out in 5 minutes ,basically swop your recept and handed visa(check dates correct)

6 Fee has been 550RM for some years and Office is closed all THai and Federal Territory and some Malay holidays (link below, good luck)

Hari Tay end of Ramadan is 8-9 August this year so if you submit application on 6th you will have to wait until the 13th a full week you have been forewarned as August 12 is Mother Day.

PS Avoid all touts for unlicensed(read uninsured taxis) who hassle you any bus will take you 1RM to the subway at Ampang Park or Twin Towers or get a proper taxi approx 30RM to Traders Hotel and around 40RM negotiable downtown or Bukit Bintang depending on your negotiating skills, bonus is you wll be amazed how cheap, well maintained, clean and friendly Bangkok taxis are.In Penang hailing a taxiis tantamount to voluntary ransom, enjoy.

I got one 18 months ago in kl and provided a copy of my thai bank book that had been updated just prior to flying to KL. I had the original with me too just in case

I decided to go next month, July 12 to be precise, I'll collect my passport on July 15, I checked the calendar for both countries and it seems that there are no public holidays on those days.

At the point 3 you wrote " Do not omit to get both parts of the ticket from the machine"

Which machine we are talking about?

There's a thread somewhere else congratulating TV for being so helpful, and while I appreciate the site and George for making it work, the thanks go to people like Rubba for taking the time to put up relevant, informed and accurate posts like that - nice one RJ.

Be aware KL has been requesting the account be in Thailand from recent reports I have read. When they started the 100k policy they indeed did accept account anywhere (and often issued even without full amount).

Very well, mine is a thai saving account and with more than 100k, unfortunately less than 400k this year and therefore I can't apply for the year extension for now :(

Thanks :-)

If you only need a little more time to get your account up to 400K you could get a 60 day extension to visit your wife and then apply for the one year.

I'm aware of it, unfortunately I'll need more than 2 months to get to 400k. Thanks for pointing that out though, very kind of you.

Have a good WE ;-)

Siriam, please update this thread once you've been to KL as I'm thinking about a trip down that way myself soon.

As promised here I am with my report.

This morning I was there 1 hour before they open, I was the first to apply.

I had all the paperwork they required including the proof of the 400k, which is the new requirement instead of 100k.

Regardless the lady in charge asked me why this time I did not apply for the year extension in Thailand, I told her that I just got the money on my account while for apply they need to be there at least 2 months.

Having learned that, she wanted to give me just 1 entry claiming that after 90 days I would have be entitled to apply for the year extension contacting the immigration office.

I insisted telling her that since I'm planning to travel a lot in/out Thailand, which is true, and since I was already there, I would prefer apply for the multi-entry.

Eventually I convinced her and I paid 550 ringgit accordingly.

Until I'll have the passport in my hands on Monday I cannot be 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident that I'll get what I asked for.

I believe they want somehow force us to apply for extensions in Thailand.

Till the next... Bye!

You can get a multiple re-entry permit when you do an extension of stay that would allow you travel all you want. So that is no real good excuse unless you are working on some kind of rotation that made it difficult to be here for the new extension.

Extensions are not all that hard to get. There is a lot of misinformation, rumors and outdated experiences about getting the extensions floating around.

They do prefer you get the extensions of stay.

Apparently it was a good excuse since they accepted my request.

BTW I'm fully aware about the reentry visas when you have an extension, I spent 13 years of my life in Thailand, obviously I have my reason not to apply for the year extension, as I used to do in the past years... I had to go this way.

You asked me to report and I have done so, now out there people are free to do what they prefer.

inside the visa room is a ticket machine queue system like a dansh bakery or thai bank

The new requirement for 400,000 Baht, does that now have to be in a Thai bank or can it still be in a foreign bank as before?

Mine were there just one week prior my trip to KL.

I guess that is not important to them
