This website indicates the insured must sign up at the Social Security Office to receive the SS benefit, which to me means the insured would collect the money directly.

Maternity Leave - The first thing you should know if you're pregnant and working in Thailand, is expectant mothers are entitled to 90 days of paid maternity leave as long as you have worked for seven months before you got pregnant. This applies to both Thais and foreign nationals. Forty five days of the paid leave will be paid for by your employer and 45 days by the Social Security Office. You will need to sign up at the Social Security Office to get the paid maternity benefits.
