Road Tax

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone could help me, I did not use my car for the past 18 months as I was away from Thailand so did not bother renewing the road tax last year, I've now returned and I'm being told (by my insurance agent) that I need to pay the past 12 months road tax (the period that my car was not on the road) and obviously the next 12 months road tax, is this correct?

Thanks in advance..

Unless you de-registered your car and returned the plates to the DLT, then I believe your insurance company is correct. There will probably also be a (very) small fine for not paying your road tax in time last year.

Sophon

Yes, correct.

Edit...unless you did as Sophon said.

What's the fine? Bout 1 baht a day say some.

The fine is 1% / month or part. Which for a motorcycle is 1 baht . For a car is more, depending on engine size etc.( fairly new 4 door pickup would be amount 68 baht/month). I was late 1 day last year and was charged this ( no rip off, computer generated and receipted)

Thanks for the information, just wanted to make sure I was not being scammed.

We have some local builders in and I noticed one had a tax sticker for 2548 on his mo-cy.

I was going to pass this info on but passed.
