Extension of stay, Mae Hongson.

Not strictly CM related, but MHS doesnt have its on forum yet.

I just did my annual application for extension to stay on my non immigrant O marriage visa.

The gentleman who deals with this at MHS is infamous for coming up with new paperwork requirements,

today he excelled himself & came up with 2 new hoops to jump thru.

He now requires photo's (2 of each) of you & your wife in almost every room of your house.

Thats in addition to the one of you & wifey in front of the house with the house number.

They have to be on real photo paper, not on A4 from your printer.

In addition to the 3 month deposit of 400,000 B he also wants to see copies of my checking account for the last year,

to prove how I'm taking care of my wife.

It took him 2 1/2 hours to process our paperwork, no one else there.

He recomended that next time we should call him in advance to see what additional bullshit he has dreamt up.

Has anyone else come across these requirements in CM or MHS, or did I just piss him off.

Most foreigners in Thailand don't have a checking a/c ( or current a/c for Brits ). Savings a/c's only are the norm. How did you get around that one or just show him the deposits and withdrawals of your "main use" a/c for the last year.

(It's an animal thing. He needs to establish dominance.)

Yes, you're right, I'll be showing him my "savings account" tomorrow.

Just show him your deposit book make sure it is updated. I have heard of them demanding a picture of you and your wife sitting on the bed. At the risk of getting jumped on. I would venture to say the staff here in Chiang Mai are a lot easier to get along with.

Of course they are using humans so some of them might have an off day and take it out on the applicants. After all as any one here in Chiang Mai who uses them knows they are working under immense pressure long lines people unprepared and they are short handed. The one with the picture of the couple sitting on the bed must have had a real bad off day.LOL
