Semi slick MTB tyres..

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just wanted to report on my semi slicks.

Some Schwable Sammy Slicks, great tyres for mixed terrain riding.

Roll real well on the Tarmac but still got plenty for cornering on loose gravel.

Probably not a single track/mud choice but for all round use I highly recommend them..

Happy trails :)

Yeah, I tried these on my old mountain bike. Wasn't very happy with them, because they're neither fish nor fowl. On the trail, they do not offer a level of traction that I feel confident with, and on the road they still can't beat all slick tires. It's a perfect solution, however, if you use your bike for riding/commuting on somewhat rough roads. Also perfect for touring bikes, though not for MTB, unless you use your MTB as a touring bike, of course, which seems to be what many MTB riders in Chiang Mai do.

I ride mixed.. Tarmac and gravel trails through the plantations. Just did 75k today and I rate them highly.

Quiet on the roads and not sure how a dedicated slick would give much more benefit.

On the gravel they are still quicker than the stock knobblies but I can corner at the same speed I was before !

Each to their own though....

Well... the rainy season has started, and this is what my trail looked like yesterday. Rain-sodden forest floor garnished with some roots. Good luck navigating this with semi slicks.

Nice photo...

I did say in my original post they were not for single track or mud though :)
