Toddler In Coma After 'Brutal Treatment' By Stepfather

tod.jpg

PATHUM THANI: -- 15-year old mother in Pathumthani province told police her husband has "brutally" hurt her 2-month baby girl by liquor in her mouth and slamming her on the floor, sending the toddler into coma.

The baby has been receiving intensive care at the provincial hospital since 28 June. When the baby was admitted to the hospital, medical staff told our correspondent, there was profuse bleeding in her brain and intestines, while her body was bruised in many places.

The 2 month old toddler is now attached to breathing apparatus. The governor of Pathumthani province has visited the hospital and promised assistance to the baby′s mother.

Ms. A (real name undisclosed due to legal reason), 15, said the baby is the child she had with the previous husband. Recently, she said, she married Mr. Sanya Channu, 31, son of a senior police officer. Ms. A said Mr. Sanya makes his living by leasing spots in markets to vendors.

According to Ms. A′s testimony to the police, she was living with Mr. Sanya′s house at Lamlukka district. She said Mr. Sanya is an alcoholic man with violent behavior who often beats her when he gets drunk.

She told police she has asked for divorce many times but he refused, and she endured his abusive treatment because she was fearful of Mr. Sanya′s influence as a high-ranking police officer′s son.

What a useless piece of shit! Lock him up and throw away the key!!bah.gifbah.gif

That's assuming he's guilty of course. I'm not saying I don't believe the girl but she's had 2 husbands and a baby and she's only 15. It's not impossible that the 2 marriages were because her situation isn't good and they were a desperate measure for survival. In that case a false accusation is always possible although whether the son of a senior policeman is a good target is another matter.

I've just heard a slightly different version of this story from my wife. The girl hasn't been married to either of these men but she was living with the first one and was happy. When she was about 6months pregnant the second guy came and took her.

I don't know how much of this is true but it does give a slightly different view.

Let's hope the baby recovers and gets justice.

If the girl is 15 now and the baby is 2 months old she must have been no more than 14 when she married her first husband. I don't know much about this but is that legal?

it is legal if the 2 parents give consent , i seen younger in prassat

Mr. Sanya′s influence as a high-ranking police officer′s son.

So nothing will ever come of this.

TIT.

Tune in for another sickening story tomorrow. Here's Khun Silaporn with the weather.

...ahm....anybody can tell me, what is wrong with this sentence, to begin with?

15-year old mother in Pathumthani province told police her husband...

I hope the poor child makes it...and the ape is going to jail!

edit: by "poor child", I mean the baby!

...although....

I think they are using the word marriage rather loosely here.

Yes it would appear so. My wife seems to think 20 is the minimum age for marriage. Not sure if that's right but I'm not going to argue as she's doing the cooking and will probably have a meat cleaver in her hand.

14 years old here in Isaan if the husband has the proper funds. Monks also attend the ceremony and give their blessings.

With Thailand being so lawless, I'm surprised there isn't more vigilante justice happening in cases like this.

I'm sure if someone put a bullet in him he wouldn't be missed.

People willing to shoot someone over loss of face in a crowded restaurant but let this slide.

OMG, certainly there are newer concepts of father, mother and marriage for the youngsters in Thailand. a week ago there was a shocking news of a young mother of 10, and today here is another social tragedy.

From what my wife says they weren't legally married. It maybe the same for those you mention as there seems to be 2 types of marriage. Legal and religious.

Having looked into it a bit it seems complicated and there are slightly different views possibly due to translation. The minimum age is 17 for both parties and I remember this now from the documents for my own marriage but there seems to be something about needing a court order to marry under the minimum age and in some cases it would seem parental permission as well.

Confusing, although not too much of a problem as I'm way past that age anyway.

This story is shocking....

This guy is a danger for society and the fact that the mother had no power to prevent this from happening because the guy is the son a a high ranking police officer, shows that there's something really wrong with the status of the police in Thailand.

I hope the child gets better and that the mother learns to stay far away from bad guys or maybe guys in general until she's a least a bit older and less vulnerable.

Ohhh here we go!! Another one of these innocent until proven gulity. I am sorry but this story is darn right distrubing. No matter what you think, a poor little baby is the victim of another stupid idiots actions, oh and his daddy will try and get him out of it. This is a child here and all you can say it she said this and she done that.

Where you there? No really?? This is a scared young mother and now a very sick young baby, so why dont go think of them next time. Sad sad story indeed and a total mindless remark from you. Anyone with kids here will understand and you, well...........

Wishing for you little one.

Obviously the father (a high ranking police officer) of this shit bag didn't do a good job of bringing up his son.

Oh, how much I wish I would have an hour with that "son of a high ranking police officer" alone in a abandoned garage somewhere in Pathum Thani...

Hope he either gets five life sentences without parole or is released on bail and gets killed by a member or friend of the girl's family and then goes straight to hell. The latter would be too easy though. I wish that he gets beaten up and gang raped in prison until he commits suicide.

I pray for a quick and thorough recovery of the little baby girl.

Can just repeat what i wrote earlier: What a f#^ed up world we live in... sad.png

Well you seem to have got out of the wrong side of the bed and left your brain behind haven't you.

If you look carefully you'll notice in my first post that I say I hope the baby recovers and gets justice.

This is an awful thing to happen whatever the circumstances. In any civilised society it's normal for someone to be considered innocent until proven guilty which obviously offends your lynch mob mentality. If he's guilty which he probably is then he should should be locked away for a very long time but as you rightly point out it's very likely that his father will try to get him off and things being like they are here he may well succeed. It may well be that this guy, if he did this, did it because he thought he could get away with it.

As you point out the mother is probably scared and the fact that his father is a policeman will make that worse as she will know the way things work here. She's 15 and may well be on her own if the family have deserted her so I'd be very surprised if she wasn't very scared.

The reason I mentioned the marriages is that if the first husband and father had left her and if she were poor without family support then she would be in a very difficult position and might well go with someone who is probably reasonably well off. At that young age scared and under the stress of providing for a baby it's easy to take desperate measures and making an accusation against someone with money who might be prepared to pay to avoid trouble isn't impossible.

As I said I have no reason to think she isn't telling the truth but it always pays to stand back and not make rash judgements if you don't have to. What has happened to this baby obviously isn't in any doubt and I really hope he makes a full recovery.

I didn't say she said this and she done that.

Yes I have had 2 children thank you so I do know what that's like although thankfully their health has never been a concern but their mother died at 50 and I sat by her hospital bed for 4 days while she slowly died so I know what it's like to see someone you love seriously ill in hospital.

No I wasn't there but then I assume you weren't either.

I also posted another version of this story which my wife saw on the TV and in the Thai papers which shows this man in an even worse light. I don't know if you bothered to read that. Post #8

Yes I did read the story more than once actually and I took advantage of my wife's knowledge of the Thai language to find out more.

Now why don't you stop slinging childish insults and go and lie down for a bit. You'll give yourself a heart attack.. or wet yourself.

The girl was not legally married, she had gone through the " Tam Man" or "wedding for buddha" ceremony, if any.

"Tam Man' is officially engaged to be married, but is in Isaan prefered since seperation is easy and children mothers responsibilty.

Man should be pronounced like AH like Onion.

And as usual the protection brigade rushes in when the damage is done, while people are encouraged to shut up in case witnessing domestic abuse.
